Rated 3 out of 5 by dallard25 Moderately happy with this purchase...
The sound quality is good and it's easy to program the speaker level settings. Of course, the blue ray picture looks great. I do have some issues with this unit package deal. 1) the speaker cables are way to short and because of the proprietary speaker connectors and no availability for extending the cables it isn't a good system to mount into the wall or use cable organizers. 2) The wireless controller for the rear satellite speakers blew out on me after a couple of months. To take advantage of the warranty, the Sony repair center wanted me to send in the whole system. This wasn't going to work for me because I've already mounted the system into the wall and had to extend the speaker cables to make it work. The wireless controller is a separate unit but they wouldn't just take it only for repair. Which seems silly since they are a Sony certified repair center. I ended up purchasing the main board for $100 and repairing it myself. I'm in the hole on this one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Steveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Good crutch when Samsung audio power amp dies
Despite what the box says, and what the salesman told me, this system does not have any wireless speakers. All speakers are wired, but the amplifier for two of the speakers is wireless connection from the Blueray unit.
In my case with an older Samsung big screen TV, the easiest hookup was via HDMI from the cable box into the Blueray unit with HDMI cable from Blueray into the TV with an electro optical cable from the TV back in to the Blueray. This is not shown on the instruction's connection graphics, but it is described.
The unit works well and can be heard over a house full of kids on sugar. The picture from the Blueray disks was very good with no skips or need to fuss once the system parameters are set up in the beginning. The menus for setup are fairly intuitive once you commit the icons to memory.

Rated 4 out of 5 by skimor Very nice system
We have been enjoying this system since August 2014. The smaller speakers fit nicely into the entertainment center yet produce a very good quality sound. It is a nice match with the flat screen TV. We are still learning how to use all the features. Sometimes the menus are a little confusing; there are many options and capabilities. There are quite a few Internet selections but most don't seem to have much desirable content. The preset audio mixes are adequate although the Concert Hall has too much echo for our taste and the Football mode doesn't impress. It would be nice if you could change the channels on the Sony TV with the Sony sound system remote. We have had some difficulty with the bluetooth feature. Maybe we are not using it correctly? Overall, this system adds a lot to the entertainment experience and we are quite happy with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MaxN Good System
The system is good value, easy to instal, and has very decent audio. It plays Netflix, Pandora, etc; thus removing the need to have Roku or the like. With good HDMI cables, it even improved the picture and audio quality of Netflix and Directv programs. I've had to disconnect it from power source a few times, to reboot due to system-failure issues--such as no audio from external input (Directv). All things considered, it's a neat unit.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Erik7706 Not bad for the price
It sounds good and has many features but I don't like the design of the DVD player itself. It's somewhat difficult to put in or take out the disc. The system is VERY slow to start up! It takes up to a minute for the sound to come on after the tv it's turned on. Not ever experienced this before.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Gustavo Best Purchase Ever
Our old Sony DBVE280 system which we enjoyed for five years had wire rear speakers. We needed to upgrade because our new home would be very hard to run rear wire. Thank you Sony for wireless rear speakers "awesome sound " and very easy to set up.

Rated 3 out of 5 by pfcstuck Good for the Price, but not Futureproof
I obtained this product about 1 week ago through AAFES on a military base to replace another home theater system that broke. The initial setup was simple. I am used to working with wires that just end instead of having the plugs already attached. This does, however, limit speaker placement options because unless you can snip, strip, splice, and sodder; you cannot extend the wires. A feature I did like is that the rear speakers have their own wireless amp instead of running wirees through walls or around the entire room to the main amp. I purchased this product overseas, meaning it has 220 plugs. It compensates by being dual voltage compatible and comes with included adapters for when I go back to the states. The picture online is a little off. The main left and right speakers are about 4" taller than depicted. Otherwise the picture is accurate. I use my TV as a computer monitor as well as a TV. I run my computer and television through the HDMI imputs on the back of the main amp and then into the TV. I do not recommend runing gaming consoles through the sound device because it increases lag time. I run consoles (PS4 and Xbox 360) dirctly to the TV and then the sound back to the main amp via a 5.1 sound cord. The included FM antenna is PATHETIC, but the antenna imput is compatible others so you can make it more robust if you desire. The largest flaw is that the HDMI is not 2.2 and therefore does not handle 4K content well. Again, I suggest running 4K content directly to the TV and then use the 5.1 cord from the TV audio output to the main amp imput. The sound quality is verry good. You have to buy systems over $1,000 to find anything that rivals it. The one problem is that the pre-programed treble settings are too high and bass settings too low for listening to music. You will want to adjust it manually, but YOU CAN'T. You can work around this by adjusting individual speaker volumes. Why wouldn't Sony include an intuitive way to manually adjust sound parameters? Also the manual speaks aobut using a microphone to troubleshoot problems or tweak individual speaker settings. The microphone is not included. Also, none of the cables needed to attach the system to your television are included. The bluetooth works well. I can play moble games on my phone and watch them on the TV. The wifi also works well. The web applications are not all that intitive. I end up playing online content through my already attached computer because it is easier. If this is not an option for you, good luck.
