Rated 5 out of 5 by CyCSLAgrad Best phone for the Money!
Clearly this phone has NOT gotten the love it deserves! It can do just about anything my old iphone could but, better and costing far less. The screen is excellent for viewing HD movies and with an expandable memory card of 32G there is plenty of room for your videos. There are a great choice of free google play apps as well. It also does well for reading epub and pdf ebooks.
Takes very crisp pictures and videos that can instantly be shared on the web or to another user. Like if you are at an Occupy LA protest and the LAPD gets out of hand, you can capture it all on video and sent it to youtube before your phone is confiscated! There is an "I'm getting arrested" app (on google play) that alerts your attorney of your condition and your last GPS position, it can also covertly record video while appearing to be off. You even have settings in the "Developer options" to spoof the GPS as to your location if think some unfriendly power is using it to track you and, you can also even upload encryption apps that work well for this phones that many newer phones won't accept. Clearly the NSA does NOT like this phone, get it while you can!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Spectre51 Great phone
Been using a Xperia S for the past few months and then got this phone. I love the ion. Feels smoother than the XS and has a much much better screen. The speed and smoothness of the ion is amazing. LTE is blazing fast. People have complained about battery life but if you calibrate it (let it go all the way down till it dies then charge completely) a few times the battery life is great. I have no issue with the touch sensitive buttons, they are much more responsive than my Xperia S. For the on contact price nothing else beats this phone.
ICS is coming for the ion but the GB build is amazing. Sony did a great job of optimizing it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by alexanxan 2 years and reluctant to get a new phone
This phone is the best phone that I have ever used. The only con to this phone would be the battery life, but that is typical of android phones. In have dropped it 4 times with a slim plastic case that doesn't offer much impact protection and it is still like brand new. Sound quality is great with the extensive equalizer on the phone. Definitely has been my best phone yet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Nexeus Great product!
I've had this phone for over a month now almost 2 and I love it thus far. It's a great phone worth the upgrade every bit. I was using an older samsung focus which was a windows phone. Although it was a good phone it just does not have the apps and features android does. My new sony ion has been great! It is super fast apps work perfectly. I would rate it 4.5 stars however I only have the option for full stars. The only cons on this phone is that the display takes up a lot of the battery power which is not so bad as the user manual says this battery is not harmed by charging it often. The other con is the charger cord is way too short. I tried looking for a longer version of the same cord but to no avail. Sony ericcsen makes the cord and it appears they only make the one length for the fast charge cord. The fast charge is worth the short cord as it only takes like an hour and a half max to charge this phone fully which makes using a longer nonfast charge cord not very desireable. Other than that I have no problems with this phone love it and would definitely recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SoCalSonyFan Easily the Best phone for AT&T
I have been waiting for this phone since it was announced at CES. Given a choice between the S and the ion, I prefer the ion. I am pretty sure I was the first one to pick up the phone in my local AT&T store yesterday, since they had to call a manager to see if they were allowed to sell it to me. So far, the phone has met or exceeded expectations, with only a couple minor issues.
The screen is very responsive, and I was not able, in the short time I compared the phones side by side, to notice a major difference between the ion and the HTC One X. They are both quite fast, even if Sony used an S3 instead of an S4 processor.
The camera features work well, and I like the added red-eye flash.
I noticed a few ICS features built into the Gingerbread OS including the easy screen shot capability. Sony even improved on that feature as there is no need to hit the volume button with the power button.
Sony did not overload this phone with bloatware, though AT&T made sure to cover the gap. There are several AT&T apps I would like to remove.
My biggest complaint so far is the way the integrated buttons work. I have had to learn how to use the buttons, since they don't work every time by default. Sometimes I have to press hard on the buttons, other times I press and slide, and yet other times it just works as expected. I am finding I miss the hardware buttons on my Xperia X10.
The phone is a fingerprint magnet, both on the front and the aluminum back. I am constantly wiping the phone down to clean it.
The phone is solid, and has already survived a drop from a movie theater arm rest without a scratch. Considering the number of bounces and bangs I heard on the way down, I am impressed with the durability. A blogger mentioned dropping the phone while riding a bike and experiencing similar results. I am happy with the durability.
When this phone gets ICS, it will easily compete with the HTC One X or the Samsung Galaxy III. I like the fact that the Sony looks nothing like an iPhone, unlike its competitors. Even without ICS, Sony did a very good job with the ion.
Overall, I am quite happy with this phone. I think if AT&T will get around to marketing it, Sony will finally gain a decent foothold in the US.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bhargav my view on this
I am a smartphone maniac, and i keep tracking all new and upcoming smartphones. Recently after the launch of galaxy s3, i think sony deserves the top smartphone. xperia ion is an excellent device with great display and camera hardware. This smartphone has to be lined up in the world's top 5 smartphone list.
Good job, SONY.

Its been two years and I still have my Ion. Still takes great photos. I am waiting for Sony to come out with something significantly better so that I can justify the expense. 2 GB ram is not enough for all apps is my only real complaint after my contract with ATT expired I am still happy with Ion. Sound used to be too soft but somehow is much better now. Recommend.
