Rated 4 out of 5 by MACisco Great sound, March 2013
These headphones have exceptional sound. They're extremely clear, have amazing bass of all things and really deliver a quality sound experience. They are large and sort of require that you are sitting up or with your head facing forward. For instance, if you're being lazy in bed, you can't really adjust comfortably to lying on your side to watch tv with one ear on a pillow. It would be ideal if the headphones could twist to allow for that minor listening experience. Overall, they deliver, plain and simple.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mmorache2012 Great Headphones, Great Sound and Quality
These are good headphones. They have great sound and the included charging cradle is neat and doesn't take much time to set up. Everything you need is included in the box and if you ask me this is a pretty good price for what you get.

I have a long standing hearing loss and I have tried several infrared headsets - this is the best so far. I'm very happy with the sound quality and the functionality. They are reliable, and easy to use. Excellent product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MikeRED MDR-IF245R - Great performance and value
I use these for watching TV with the analog stereo outputs on my cable box. IR design allows for long battery life. Leaving them on the stand/transmitter when not in use leaves them ready for many hours of use (at least 12 hrs. I've never run them down yet). Excellent fidelity and audio range is evident while watching movies and any musical material (see note and the end on use with plasma TVs). Super bass and excellent separation with clean high end response.
These are a significant improvement over the older IF240's, which I like very much and own a pair of these, too (used in a different room). The IR transmitters work with either/both of them if two (or more) people want to use headphones on the same transmitter.
One caution for plasma TV owners: Plasma TVs tend to throw out a lot more random infrared that may be picked up by IR receiving headphones - sounds like 'buzzing' static. Some plasmas are much worse than others - the more random IR noise from the plasma, the closer you need to be to the IR transmitter to overcome the plasma noise (you may also need to reposition the transmitter). My humble opinion is that random IR TV color noise is easier to deal with than RF wireless interference. This appears more off of the center/in-line IR 'beam' axis of the transmitter, and varies depending on the individual programming content. LED TVs usually have far less random IR. Being directly in line with the transmitter reduces random TV IR 'spray' and getting closer to the transmitter also diminishes the problem if it is present.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Regor Finally after an exchange they work and work well
First set would only hold a charge for about 5 minutes. After they were exchanged, the replacements seem to work fine! Hope they continue to do so!

Rated 1 out of 5 by markstr Poor quality
The set must have been faulty because I don't believe that Sony would sell products of such poor quality. The sound was just OK on the right but left had continuous static noise. The range was not as specified - no sound past 10-12 feet. The only tine there was clear reception when standing at 3 ft from the source. A different Sony model has an excellent reception so there is no problem with my source.
