Rated 5 out of 5 by turnerb92 Outstanding Blu Ray Player
I originally purchased the Sony BDP-S6200 and really liked it, but the thing that drove us nuts was every time we turned the blu ray player on with the remote the disc loader would open up. This wouldn't normally be a problem, but a lot of times we just want to watch Netflix or Amazon Prime and if one of my kids turns it on and forgets to close it one of our dogs may hit it and break it off when they are playing around. So we decided to take it back to the store and shop around. We waited a couple of weeks and then saw that the Sony BDP-S7200 was available and so we decided to spend the extra money and give it a try. We have had it for almost a month now and we use it everyday and I have to say that it is by far the best picture and streaming player I have ever used (and the disc loader does not open when you turn it on unless you actually push the button!). I'm upgrading from a 6 year old Panasonic Blu Ray player and this Sony is night and day above the Panasonic.
Overall, probably the best Blu Ray player out right now in this price range. Thank you Sony!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Gary3348 Third Sony DVD
This is my third Sony DVD player in about 6 months. I paid for the first two and the 3rd one was a replacement. Twice I called technical support and both times spent a couple of hours on the phone talking with someone who did not use English as their first language. Normally this would be no problem, but technical discussions do not work well unless both parties speek and understand the language of choice. In addition not only am I out the money for two DVD players, but another $45 for a box, packing material, insurance, and shipping. At present the third player appears to be functioning without any problems. However I have not used it much and it's only a couple of months old so the jury is still out. I would also like to be able to call technical support in the U.S. rather than the Phillipines. It is of note that the nick names. Annoyed, aggravated, and irritated have all already been taken.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BronxMike Good unit, but they left something out...
Tons of features, but the front display only shows timing, no track information. What? They saved $.02 to physically shorten the display module? So when you listed to a CD, to see the track you are on the TV monitor must be turned on. This strikes me as dopey. The cheaper unit, which I bought for my bedroom, has no front display whatsoever! Juts a tiny pilot light to show it's on. To see where you are while watching a moving, the display button must be pushed. So on one hand they add features, but de-content stuff that has been included for twenty years.

Rated 2 out of 5 by diligent Lots of problems
We purchased a lesser quality SONY Blu ray player. It was very cheaply made and it failed. The door wouldn't open and disks were caught inside. The only way to extract the disk was a complete reboot and then it would only last for one or two times. Under warranty we decided to buy the BDPS7200. It was rated high so we asked SONY to credit us with the cost of the one that failed so that we could purchase the better model. SONY agreed. The construction of the BDPS7200 is clearly superior hence we though we made a smart purchase. However, this model requires a minimum of 2 MBPS streaming to be able to connect to the internet - hence, we could no longer access NETFLIX since our internet is only 1.5 MBPS. We looked into upgrading the internet connectivity. In the meanwhile the door on the new model locked up. Like the cheaper model it required a rebooting almost after every DVD was played. We returned the player which was still under warranty. SONY replaced the player. However, we decided we had enough of SONY Blu rays. We gave it to our grandson - an engineer - he has a 10 MBPS internet connection. We bought a different brand - which, so far appears to work as advertised including operating with our 1.5 MBPS internet connection.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Jortiz Good but not great
Purchased this player to replaced my old S790 which was one of the best players Sony has ever made. However, this player is a step backward compared to the old S790. 1st) the player only have one HDMI output. The S790 has TWO. 2nd) It only decodes True HD and Dolby as 2 Channels. The S790 decodes up to 5.1 Channels. Picture and Sound quality is great, however, for the amount of money Sony is charging for this player, they should have at least included a second HDMI output and full 5.1 channel internal decoding for True HD and DD. The S790 has all these features and cost almost half the cost less than the S790.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MikeofStDavid BEST OF THE BEST
I cant say much about the BDPS7200 blu-ray dvd disc player because I did not used it that much yet. Only thing I can say is that setup was a breeze and playing a blu-ray disc was nothing less than perfect. Unfortunately the disc( Training Day with Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke) was not a 3d ,had no special feature and no bd live option nor any spectacular scenery to test the quality of the image, but I can say that there were no flaws, no bumps or pops nor sound problems. My TV is a Samsung 40 inches HD flat screen with no 3D option.
So I am for now very satisfied with this player and very impressed with all the additional features it comes with. I would recommend it to my friends.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Consumer01 BDPS7200 bLURAY PLAYER
If all you want is a Blu-ray player this is great but for streaming movies has major glitches with going into a standby mode. I returned this product and purchased a Samsung BDP for around $100. that had far superior streaming. The SonyBDPS7200 would go into a standby mode while streaming movies if you didn't hit a button on the remote every 20 minutes or so and the remote would stop working the only button that would work was the off button and then you would have to unplug and plug the BDP back in to get it to work again this was the same with the BDPS6200 also. I Contacted Sony and they do not have a fix for this problem and no way to extend the standby time or disable it in setting.
