Definitely not the Sony quality that I have grown to expect. The original bulb lasted almost four years and in Jan 2009 it burned out. I bought the replacement for $250 from the Sony Style website and installed it myself. Installation was easy and I appreciated that design aspect. However, I ordered this replacement bulb on 27 Jan 2009 and today, 23 Jan 2010, it burned out. Not even one year of what I would call average viewing, it was probably on about 35-40 hours per week. So I didn't even get 3,000 hours out of it. Pretty sad compared to the 10,000+ hours I probably got out of the original bulb.

Rated 2 out of 5 by GTRMAN I am very disappointed in the replacement bulb. First of all I'm disappointed in BestBuy for selling me the tv 3 yrs ago and acted like replacing the bulb was no big deal. Now that it burned out I went there and they said they don't sell the bulb. So I had to go online and order it. That was pretty easy and it was very easy to install. Unfortunately the colors are all off. The tv is now very green and impossible to adjust to make it look right. Now I watch my old school regular non-HD tv because the picture and color is better. I'd expect a $4000 tv to perform better than this.

When our original lamp went out on our TV after four years, we purchased a replacement lamp. The first lamp lasted four years. The replacement lamp only lasted two months. From the reviews, it appears that is common and sometimes only worked a couple of days. No warranty. What a joke! What an inferior product.

After 3-4 years the lamp in my tv went out also. Replaced with this product and like the other post the picture was terrible and then within 3 months of replacing lamp, this one no longer works. Calling Sony to get a replacement, we'll see what happent.

Same as the others, purchased 9-19-08 burnt out on 4-22-10, guess I got a year and a half out of mine. Going to try a bulb from a store called StoreFrontOutlet on amazon.com looks like I can get one there for 140. Even if it only lasts a year its better than paying 250 for a year.

I received a new XL5100 lamp for my 60in SXRD television on March 11. On March 25 the lamp failed. I have requested Sony send me a new one at no charge. We will see what happens

This replacement bulb makes all TV images appear greenish-yellow. I have tried in vain, even with Pro settings, to correct the color bias. It is unmistakeable and increasingly irritating. This product is not worthy of the Sony label, and I feel cheated.

after using the tv almost 3 years bulb was gone, i purchased replacement bulb. i replaced and get picture successfully but colors were off. i was totally disappointed. i dont think there is something wrong with the tv it was working fine.. i need to adjust colors i guess. bulb only gives white light anyways. so i am working on it.
