Graphics (Video Card)

Dedicated graphics are critical for use with programs that have intense video graphics, which many of today's games and other media do. If your video card gets overloaded, your processor will borrow memory from your PC RAM which will result in slower reaction time, especially if you are running other applications. So, the more memory you have on your video card, the less your processor will have to borrow to display graphics, which will ultimately lead to better overall performance.

With hybrid graphics the PC contains both integrated graphics on the processor and separate dedicated graphics. On the S Series, you can adjust your graphics setting to deliver maximum power when it's needed most and then dial it back down for day-to-day activities to conserve battery life. You can even adjust the performance level on the fly without rebooting. That way you lower your energy consumption and preserve your battery life.

Solid State Drive

The hard drive is where permanent data is stored, such as applications, documents, music, photos, etc. The larger the drive, the more data that can be stored. If you are storing large amounts of pictures, music and movies, for example, a large capacity drive is recommended.

Solid state drive technology differs from a conventional hard disk drive in that it has no moving parts. This means that solid state drives are more durable and less prone to the damage, such as scratching, that can sometimes occur over time in hard disk drives. Solid state drives also tend to provide faster boot-ups and overall speedier performance.
