Early impressions this is my initial impression of the new reviever. I am coming from an Onkyo Tx NR807 I like the connectivity of this unit and saale price with drew me to this unit. My initial impressions of this are maily why is the GUI so Lame. I can understand a dated look but if your gonna offer it make it least on the whole screen. I hope this gets addresed in a firm ware update. Pandora is nice but it doesnt ever show album art. Also when you switch fomr one input to another, it takes like 5 seconds. I am sure I will grow to love it but there are a few things I think sony needs to adress. Other than that. its a decent uint at a good price with a ton of features. but dont get sowed in by the features March 27, 2013
great sound options,for music and movies I got this receiver because it gave me the ability to stream from my iPod & iPad, it does that great. I did not know that it also had great sound effects, that was just a plus, and great for my movies. I have some receivers that cost over $1000.00 dollars, this one was half the cost and overall had better sound. My speakers are Acoustic Research, "big ones" they have never sounded better,,,thanks Sony!! February 20, 2013
Pretty good This is a great receiver in every way for me except that the GUI is unbelievably awful. I cannot believe that anyone at Sony saw this and approved it. Appleheads will like to know that Airplay is not mirrored. I personally don't care about that, but it would be a great feature. SONY PLEASE UPGRADE TO A BETTER GUI-MAYBE EVEN THROUGH A SOFTWARE UPDATE PLEASE!!!! January 25, 2013
Great A/V I love this A/V. Works great with everything I have at home (PS3, cable, 2nd cable, Apple TV) + SS-F7000 speakers. If you're looking for a great sound system without spending a fortune, get this and F7000 speakers and you'll be all set. And you'll love it. As for the GUI, yes it's bad (Sony, what were you thinking when you made this GUI? Wanted to remind people how WW2 technology was?). But you won't mess with the GUI that much once you are done with the setup. And since the receiver is networked I'm sure Sony will update the GUI soon. You can get an App for iPhone to remote control the receiver. You can do anything except turn it on. Obviously the system won't talk to your iPhone when it's off. (One touch Airplay music without reaching from the remote would have been nice). I still rate the device excellent. Great device for the money. January 24, 2013
