Worth every penny I just bought this tv from Fry's Electronics. It was pricey but I'm glad I got it. The picture quality is amazing, especially with movies that are true HD versus movies which have had their resolution increased and nothing else. The only problem I have with the tv is in order to setup the set on my wireless network I have to broadcast my network. But there are ways around that problem. If you can afford it, you will love it. Horrible buzzing from backlight I purchased my XBR HX929 (46") when it was first released. With the ambient sensor off there is a very audle buzzing sound coming from the backlight. Turning the sensor on lessens it, yet it is stll audible. Sony replaced my set but unfortunately the new set exhibits the same problem. This has been troubleshooted thoroughly with Sony, including onsite service. I've always been a fan of the XBR series but am extremely disappointed with this issue. In all other ways this is an exceptional product. Too bad it has a fatal flaw. February 27, 2012

NICE PICTURE BUT THE SCREEN IS JUNK THE TV HAS THE BEST PICTURE I HAVE EVER SEEN IF YOU TRY TO WIPE THE SCREEN OFF AND THE TV IS TURNED ON AND YOU PRESS ON IT LIGHTLY TO WIPE OFF THE FINGER PRINTS THE LIQUID WILL MOVE THATS WHY I SAY ITS NOT GLASS BECAUSE IF IT WAS GLASS YOU WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PRESS ON THE SCREEN LIGHTLY AND SEE THE LIQUID MOVE BESIDES YOU GUYS USED TO MAKE YOUR SONY XBRS WITH REAL GLASS ABOUT 5 TO 7 YEARS AGO AND ITS A BETTER TV THAN THE ONE YOU GUYS MADE 2011 HOPEFULLY YOU GUYS WILL MAKE THEM THAT WAY AGAIN SOON BECAUSE THE GLASS IS THICK THE NEW 2011 XBRS DO HAVE PLASTIC SCREENS GLASS IS THICK NOT THIN IF YOU GUYS MAKE THE GLASS TO THIN AND YOU TRY TO PUT IT ON THE TV IT WILL BREAK BECAUSE ITS TO THIN AND ITS JUNK SO I HOPE YOU GUYS DO IMPROVE THEM THANKS RUDY February 1, 2012

Excellent TV ... with a caution I've no reservations whatsoever as to the quality of the picture of this TV set. As simple as it sounds, it's a joy watching TV programs/movies on this unit. Also, it took me awhile searching stores for a better TV, and I did find it in this set. But ... During the initial setup of the unit, I clicked on the automatic update option (using the TV wireless feature). That was a BIG mistake, because after one night, the set turned off in a middle of a movie ... and that was that. The Sony technician suggested to replace the unit because of some hardware problems. My guess is (also based on other reviews I've read later) that a firmware update damaged the unit. And so, when I got the second (brand new) set, I was CAREFUL to set-off that automatic update option. That's my reason for a four-star grading instead of a five. Anyway, now, a month plus later, life is good ... January 19, 2012
