Very Good Laptop
There will one day be a day where you can feel like your laptop is better than your friend's, colleagues, and classmate's computers and not have a sore back, with little room for any books in your backpack. Perhaps the glorious day will come when the F series will be jammed into the z series portable size, but that day is not today. Today, if you wish, you can have all the power, for just the small price of obesity in your machine. That is what the F-series if for. Ultimate power in an ugly yet stylish design.
Yes, I am saying that this is a great laptop. I am trying to convince my wife that I want a new laptop, and she said I could if this one is broken. Well it still lives, still runs fast, it never seems to run hot (fan is on the side rather than the bottom) and movies look amazing on the display. Looks like I will be stuck with this machine for a while, and I love it so far, cant find any reason to get ride of it beside the fact that I like new computers.

Excellent Desktop Replacement Laptop
I use this Desktop Replacement for my daily trading, its is blazing fast and its just what I expected. Since is a desktop replacement it should be heavy, have low battery life, large screen, and super fast. It also has a beautiful design.
Since its a Sony it has all the amazing sony software pre-installed. PMB (Picture Motion Browser) is amazing for those of us with no video editing skills that want to transcode your video to different formats, organize photos, etc...
VAIO Media Plus I love since the VAIO F becomes a DLNA server to stream content to my Tablet S, Xperia phone, TV and my SANS300 speaker.
After using many Sony VAIO computers I have gotten used to the short keys that are on the arrow keys. This VAIO F, since it has enough space Sony chose not to include the FN short keys that are placed on top of the arrow keys. This to me is inconvenient since I have to take my hands away from typing position and press the Home, End or Page Up, Page down keys. I would leave the short cut keys there as well so the user can chose which ones to use.
The one thing that I do complain about is that Sony DID NOT add Media Center features on the laptop such as Media Center remote, IR sensor for the remote, VAIO Living Browser software (internet browsing thru Media Center) I understand that this is not meant to be a HTPC but at least make it an option. I'll gladly pay extra for the convenience.
This laptop is NOT meant to be a light weight , long battery life device. Those that complain about the weight and large power supply. You need to look at the VAIO Z, not the VAIO F. It's like buying a Lamborguini then complaining about fuel efficiency...well, there is always the Toyota Prius but don't complain about the acceleration.
Strongly recommended product, very well built, super fast, it does what it was made for. Love it but next time add Media Center IR sensor, remote control and VAIO Living Browser. A Life-FLOW screen saver would be great too!

Good, but expensive
I like it so far. I bought the 2D but the speakers were broken so I exchanged it and figured I'd upgrade to the 3D. The HD and 3D picture quality is awesome but the frame rate is horrible. I can't figure out why Sony would put an awesome full 1080p/3D display and then neuter it with a cheat graphics card. I watched some steaming HD video and was disappointed with how choppy the frame rate was. I'm going to look into upgrading this soon. Really, I can't wrap my head around why sony would put such a worthless video card in a computer with such an awesome display.
Expect this thing to run slow at first while all the useless Sony software is running. Once you disable it all thought this thing is pretty quick. the backlit keyboard is also really useful.
As with all Sony products, it's grossly overpriced, but whatever it's just money.

best notebook, but could do better
I´ve my VPCF2190X I7-2720 8Gb 640 gb hd 7200 for a month. 3D is excellent and performance too. Overall, its excellent.!!!
But some details, take down a bit your product. with no intention to ofend, its my impresion.
First: Media Gallery analysis takes long and it consumes to much resources. It make the fan work for hours or days. after a few days it finish and not its quiet. I´ve migrated from my old notebook lots of gb of music and hd videos from my handycam.(110gb)
Second: adobe bundle comes with premiere 8, now there ir version 9 for around 140 usd. having the best machine in market with old software, not good.
Third: You should have choose more carefully the plastic glossy material. It scratches with dust. I read one review about that, and did not care because I´m very careful, but now, I have to tell you, it is very delicate. I should go for Mate black. Unlucky me, when I order it wasn´t available yet.
Other than that, I recommend and its excellent. Sony, you should send two pair of 3D glasses, no one sees movies alone!!
