Fire away.

Sometimes a picture says it all – capture stunning 16.2MP stills perfect for sharing once-in-a-lifetime moments with family and friends. Use the back-illuminated "Exmor R" CMOS sensor to get fantastic low-light shots, as well as the ability to give subjects more pop by setting them against softly blurred backgrounds. Present things in an all-new dimension by shooting in 3D still image and 3D Sweep Panorama mode. And when a picture can't say it all, capture the action in rich HD video.

  • Great Low-light Shots

Sometimes a flash can wash out a scene and make it hard to authentically capture the mood of the moment. For low-light environments, the back-illuminated "Exmor R" CMOS sensor delivers stunning performance and increases sensitivity by 2x to reduce noise. Shots from a night out on the town never looked better.

  • Amazing HD Movies

Shoot beautiful HD movies then burn them to DVD. By recording in the AVCHD format, you can transfer full 1080i clarity and smooth motion video to disc then play it on your Blu-ray Disc player or PS3 system7. Create an entire library of memories in high definition. Movie files are limited to 29 minutes each.

  • Get Closer with 7x Zoom

Capture the action up close with 7x optical zoom. Fit more into every frame – a 24mm wide angle lens allows wider shots of any scene and makes fitting the whole group into one shot a snap.

  • Effortless Panoramic Shots

Intelligent Sweep Panorama HR mode reaches beyond the traditional wide angle lens to let you capture expansive, breathtaking shots of landscapes or cityscapes in incredibly detailed high resolution. Just press the shutter and pan the scene with a sweeping motion. The camera takes care of the rest — to spectacular results.

  • Background Defocus Made Easy

To place more emphasis on your subject, try blurring out the background. Equipped with Background Defocus mode, the WX10 delivers this signature DSLR benefit by taking two shots, identifying the background and applying a digital defocus. With background noise on mute, your subject is free to shine with the crispness and clarity it deserves.

  • Incredible Contrast

From portraits to action shots, landscapes to close-ups — the beauty is in the details. With a built-in backlight correction feature, this camera intelligently analyzes the image and adjusts its settings automatically. The result? A perfectly-lit shot every time.

All screen images simulated.

The Cyber-shot® DSC-WX10 features a 16.2-megapixel "Exmor R" CMOS image sensor that brings out the full resolving power of the camera's Sony G-Lens. It delivers extremely fast speed, high resolution with improved image clarity and drastically reduced grain. The WX10 is outfitted with powerful features like Full HD movie for high quality movies, low light performance for improved image clarity, 10fps to capture the precise moment, and backlight correction to capture the detail in high contrast shots.

16.2 Megapixel Back-illuminated “Exmor R” CMOS Image Sensor

The DSC-WX10 features a 16.2 megapixel “Exmor R” CMOS image sensor that brings out the full resolving power of the camera’s G lens to deliver extremely fast speed, high resolution, and stunning low-light sensitivity with improved image clarity and drastically reduced grain. In addition, the combined “Exmor R” CMOS sensor and BIONZ® image processor delivers extremely fast 10fps, Anti Motion Blur, Hand-held Twilight and 1080i movie modes.

7x (24mm) Professional-quality optical zoom G-Lens

G lenses are used in top of the line digital single lens reflex (DSLR) cameras and advanced pro-sumer HD camcorders. Capture the action up close with the 7x optical zoom. A wide angle of 24mm allows you to take wider shots of the scene or group in crowded spaces.

Manual operation

Sometimes automatic just won’t do. The manual operation function puts the control back in your hands to get the shots that you want, how you want them. Make minor adjustments to white balance, Aperture Priority and Shutter Priority.

Intelligent Sweep Panorama™ mode

With Intelligent Sweep Panorama™ mode just press the shutter, pan the landscape and let the camera do the rest. It automatically links together each frame to produce a high resolution panoramic image providing the ability to zoom in on small details. This model even detects faces and moving subjects to stitch intelligently different widths to help avoid subject distortion.

Digital Zoom

Capturing the right shot at the right moment has never been so easy. Digital zoom brings the action up close to get that perfect shot, every time.

HDMI® output

The High-Definition Multimedia Interface® (HDMI®) is a compact audio/video connector interface for transmitting uncompressed digital streams. HDMI connects digital audio/video sources such as a compatible camcorder, Blu-ray Disc™ player, a personal computer, a video game console, or an AV receiver to a compatible digital audio device and/or video monitor such as a digital television (DTV). Easily connect your Cyber-shot® camera via HDMI cable to any compatible HDMI compatible device to easily enjoy and upload content.5

Motion Detection

Motion Detection, along with Face Motion Detection adjusts ISO sensitivity and increases the shutter speed when movement is detected, reducing blur in moving subjects and faces.

Compatible with PC and Mac® Systems

The high definition, AVCHD, video captured with the DSC-WX10 can be used with the provided Picture Motion Browser software for PC and iMovie® (sold separately) for Mac® systems.¹

Full HD 1080/60i

Record crystal clear movies at the highest resolution available with capability for 60i in 1080 Full HD. This provides stunning, fast motion video with less distortion for playback on your HD TV.5

Background Defocus

DSLR photographs are often beautiful because they blur the background, putting the emphasis on the subject. Now our point-and-shoot cameras can deliver this signature DSLR benefit. The system takes two shots, identifies the background and applies a defocused background keeping the subject crisp and clear.

Optical SteadyShot™ image stabilization

Optical SteadyShot™ image stabilization uses a built-in gyro sensor to detect camera shake and automatically shifts the lens to help prevent blur without sacrificing image quality.

Hi-speed Linear Focus

Life moves fast, your camera’s focus needs to move just as fast. The Hi-speed linear focus achieves dramatically clearer images with an auto focus that moves just as fast as your life.

Natural Flash

Conventional point-and-shoot camera flash shots just don't capture colors the way the eye sees them. Natural Flash mode takes a reference shot without flash and then uses that reference to correct the color, for far more lifelike images.

Face Detection technology

Sony’s Face Detection technology can automatically distinguish between children and adults. Face Detection technology detects up to eight individual faces and adjusts flash, focus, exposure, and white balance to help deliver crisp, properly lit images of family and friends.

Sweep Multi Angle™ mode

In Sweep Multi Angle™ mode, the camera takes 15 images at different angles as it sweeps across the scene. By tilting the camera during playback, the camera’s Gyro Sensor detects motion and displays the image in a 3D-like view on the camera’s LCD.

Includes Sony® PMB Portable software

With the pre-installed Picture Motion Browser (PMB) Portable software the DSC-WX10 makes it easy to pre-select videos and images in the camera and conveniently upload them from the camera to a compatible PC and popular Internet sharing sites without the need for any additional software or install.²

2.8" (460K dots) Clear Photo LCD Plus™ display

Compose and show off your images on the large 2.8” (460K dots) Clear Photo LCD Plus™ display, which features a special anti-reflective coating for sharp visibility, even in bright sunlight.

Backlight Correction HDR

Don’t miss a single detail in high contrast shots. The built in backlight correction analyzes the image and automatically adjusts accordingly to give you a perfectly lit shot. Backlight Correction HDR helps correct for this by taking three pictures at different exposure settings and processing the best elements of each into a single image for more natural looking shots.

3D still images and 3D Sweep Panorama™

Produce awe-inspiring images with 3D still image and 3D Sweep Panorama™ capabilities.4 Images will take on a new dimension of creative capabilities for viewing the world in a whole new way.

Superior Auto mode

Get cleaner, more dynamic pictures and fewer missed shots. The camera automatically recognizes the correct scene mode, then quickly shoots and combines up to six shots to produce images with greater clarity, optimum dynamic range using backlight correction HDR technology and lower image noise using 6 shots layering technology.Superior Auto intelligently detects 33 scenes for still images and 44 scenes for movies, making it easy to get the best shot.

Soft Skin mode

Portrait subjects will love the results. Soft Skin mode recognizes skin tones and reduces the appearance of blemishes and wrinkles without affecting the rest of the shot.

Smile Shutter™ technology

Smile Shutter™ technology captures a smile the moment it happens. Simply press the Smile Shutter™ button and the camera does the rest. You can also select adult and child priority and indicate the degree of Smile Detection sensitivity. Intelligent Scene Recognition can be used together with Smile Shutter™ mode. This means that beautiful smiles can be captured with settings optimized for the particular scene, even in difficult conditions such as twilight and backlighting.

Anti-blink Function

It’s frustrating to capture the perfect shot, only to review it later and discover subjects blinked during the photo. When the camera is set to Soft Snap, the Anti-blink function captures two images, recording only the photo with less squinting or blinking. If a blink is detected in other shooting modes, a warning will be displayed after you take the shot.

Includes Sony® PMB (Picture Motion Browser) Software ver. 5.5

Sony Picture Motion Browser software offers a simple, intuitive way to transfer, sort, and view your video and still images on your compatible PC.¹ In addition, multiple output options let you burn your memories to DVD using an external DVD burning device, as well as take advantage of one click upload to a number of popular video and photo sharing sites (such as Facebook® and Sony’s Personal Space™ site).

THINGS TO WATCH OUT FOR I got this camera after reading GREAT reviews on the Video aspect. It was correct. the video looks great, EXCEPT...it is in MTS format, and not recognized by standard editing programs. I need to convert the footage, before editing within my Adobe products. Second thing I noticed, is although it is over 16 mp for the still images, they are only at 72dpi for resolution. Which causes the photos to lose a LOT of detail. Sub-par resolution, and bad video format, but overall a decent camera. Iw ould only recommend to people who do NOT care about editing later January 19, 2012
Good camera for the price I've had this camera for a little over 6 months now. Pretty happy with it with a few exceptions. For video, there are a couple setting / file formats. It was way out of sync the first time I used it and all video was ruined. After tweeking the settings all was good. The camera is also very cheaply made and breaks easy as I recently found. All in all a very good deal but be cautious on the video settings and don't forget it cheaply made. January 10, 2012
It's amazing why r u archived this product in middle east country and why? not introduced this product in India this is the excellent future product and i love this product. the product is milestone of the sony corporation. October 15, 2011
Why discontinued?!? Get one if you can! I stumbled onto one of these at a great price, had been looking at the WX9, and the deal I got on this was even better. I knew this was a 2011 release with the new sensor, but it looks like Sony has already discontinued this model?!? Strange, since it's a nice camera! Maybe it had too many features! First off, the new 16.2 Mpixel sensor is a big step up from last years 12.2 Mp sensor, at least as far as video in low light. Much less noise, and significantly better - in scenes that are basically BLACK with a camera with last years' sensor, you actually can resolve details with the WX10. Focus (this has the new linear focus that the high end of the HX line has), is quite fast and responsive. Zoom range is better than the other cameras in the WX series, and is quite quiet, even when shooting video. Personally I prefer a larger camera body wise, but this is a tad larger than last years' WX5, and a little easier to handle. But if you LIKE super compact with great features, or have smaller hands, this is a winning design. It does have the relatively low resolution LCD (2.8", 460K pixels or so), compared to most of the other 2011 Sony offerings, which have 3"/960K pixels + or -. It's probably adequate for such a small screen - you can pretty well see what your framing and general results are, but it doesn't do the sensor justice, for that you have to download your pix! I almost wonder if Sony just released this camera to use up LCD's left over from last year!? Otherwise, it is all "latest and greatest"! The one thing about this camera that is really unusual, especially for Sony, is the wealth of manual controls available when in "M" mode - while you've only got two available aperature settings, everything else (esp, White Balance), is HIGHLY adjustable. I suppose for a camera designed for the "point and shoot" user this is not needed, but it was a surprise to have this much control over the settings of the camera in something this tiny! And since I mentioned the "point & shoot" aspects, this has the usual AutoIntelligent features where it looks at the scene and decides the best settings to use - so far, seems quite effective, as I've found in most of the Sony cameras. Set it to the advanced mode, point and go, and you'll get pretty good results, if you like to tweak settings, there's the "M" mode! There are lots of reviews out there on the various Sony 2011 models, the new 16.2Mpixel sensor is certainly looking like a winner, with better resolution and detail, plus better low light sensitivity. Since this little guy apparently is already discontinued, I thought I'd at least put up a review of it, since I guess Sony decided it was the ugly duck or something - it's a pretty neat little camera with excellent manual features, in case you run into one!
