better but not the best
hi,i was comparing this one to hp dm4 ,toshiba portege and adamo,recent price cut on these laptop make the fair comparison.but once you get your hands on to this laptop(plus reading reviews)comparison fades away.though dm4 is most powerful in the list but sonys design and looks takes all away.though this one dont come with a dvd drive but to consider this factor please give a question to yourself-when did you last watch a dvd on your laptop if u dont remember u dont need one if answer is- quite often, then you need to search for other options.i5 processor of hp dm4 may make u think to go for it but once again give yourself a question-do u need i5 over i3(i know higher numbers are better but sometime u dont need them),i am not a multitasking person,for me even pentium will work.i am happy that i went for sony.the only annoying factor of sony is its sound quality-which is not too good.getting a free adobe package is a great deal for me.

4 months of searching, finally the perfect laptop
I've been searching for an ultraportable laptop that's thin and light and with no optical drive for months. I had compared the Asus UL series, Dell Studio 14z & m301z, mSi, Toshiba, and on and on. The Sony Y Series was in my top 3 choices BEFORE upgrading to the i3 processors, so after the i3's came out it was an easy choice. I ordered directly from Sony Style - very friendly and helpful customer service, extremely fast shipping (arrived 2 days after I ordered it). For the features of the Y Series compared to other brands, the price is actually kinda incredibly low. When I unboxed it, the solid build and gorgeous, sleek exterior were immediately noticeable. It runs quiet and is exactly what it purports to be -- a high quality ultraportable laptop for a very reasonable price. Sony is the only brand that really got the right formula of aesthetics and performance. The Asus UL models have horrible trackpads and so-so screens, Dell light models don't have chiclet keyboards, Toshiba, Gateway, and MSI all have decent features but are all too "clunky" or otherwise just not very attractive designs. Yes, Sony finally got the exact perfect formula here, and I'm very very glad I waited and got this gem. Only criticism (and it's a minor one) is that the touchpad buttons are a bit narrow, but that could be just because I'm used to huge buttons on my current laptop. Overall, the new i3 Y series is sleek, powerful, affordable, well-made, and has a top-notch large trackpad. I highly recommend.
