Light on features for a $200 adaptor
First off, I would only recommend this for a photographer... if you are a videographer, get the LA-EA2 (yes, it's worth it#. My pet peeve with this adaptor is how slow it is to adjust the aperture and how noisy it is. Every time you adjust the aperture #up or down# it opens all the way and then closes to the appropriate setting after making a click-click sound. Have to adjust it again? CLICK-CLICK. Did the sun just come out from behind a cloud and you want to close the aperture by three steps? CLICK-CLICK, CLICK-CLICK, CLICK-CLICK and it takes a second also. My next pet peeve is that AF does not work in video mode. This is simply a software issue that limits it. Sony did this so more people would buy the outrageously over-priced LA-EA2. If you don't have SAM/SSM lenses or a desire for AF, then I would recommend a $25 manual adaptor #with apeture ring) instead of this overpriced fluff. Only if you are 100% photo/0% video shooter who has SAM/SSM lenses would I recommend this adaptor.

Learned about NEX focus with this...
I wanted to work with mirrorless imaging while preserving my options to add SLT later.
If I had bought E-mount lenses, I would have been 'stuck' with mirrorless focusing. I found that mirrorless is good unless it is an action video/photo OR you doing video-zooming. I did eventually get the LA-EA2, but still like the EA1 when there is very little 'action' or zooming.
I did have to forsake the in-lens-stabilization in SOME of the E-mount lenses, though.

A must for versatility.
I keep reading about people experiencing no autofocus capability.
Update your NEX firmware to version 3. Update your adapter to version 2 and it will work with:
SAM Lenses
* DT 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 SAM (SAL1855)
* DT 28-75mm F2.8 SAM (SAL2875)
* DT 55-200mm F4-5.6 SAM (SAL55200-2)
* DT 30mm F2.8 Macro SAM (SAL30M28)
* DT 35mm F1.8 SAM (SAL35F18)
* DT 50mm F1.8 SAM (SAL50F18)
* 85mm F2.8 SAM (SAL85F28)
SSM Lenses
* Vario-Sonnar T* 16-35mm F2.8 ZA SSM (SAL1635Z)
* Vario-Sonnar T* 24-70mm F2.8 ZA SSM (SAL2470Z)
* Distagon T* 24mm F2 ZA SSM (SAL24F20G)
* 70-200mm F2.8 G (SAL70200G)
* 70-300mm F4.5-5.6 G SSM (SAL70300G)
* 70-400mm F4-5.6 G SSM (SAL70400G)
* 300mm F2.8 G (SAL300F28G)
Also, yes it's slow compared to the kit lens, may take up to 5 seconds, never 10 seconds, but you will be using it with lenses that do not have image stabilization nor do you have the continuous auto-focus option. So you're not probably shooting fast moving object, thus it's not exactly a major con.
P.S. not sure why the IQ drops so significantly when the uploaded image gets resized by the Sony website.
