Constant Popping/Cracking Noises
I bought this TV site unseen directly from this website since there was such a good sale on it and I wanted a 46" LED. The design of the TV is great, very clean looking and toned down which I liked. The pic quality is great for the price, even without all the high end "engines" that Sony puts into it's more expensive TVs.
But the real issues with this TV are the sounds, both out of the speakers and the base. The base and what I have to assume is the backlight are constantly making cracking or popping noises for at least the first hour it's on...every time. Which may not sound like a deal breaker, but if you're like me and watch TV in short bursts like in the morning before work, then you constantly hear it and it's very annoying. One other thing regarding this, the noises continue when you turn the TV off, so there's no getting away from it.
Also, the speakers in the TV aren't nearly as good as my 40" LCD Sony which is two years old. I had to play with the audio levels for two weeks to get away from that dragging "s" sound and voice cracking on high tones. It still happens occasionally.
Plus a very minor complaint, I wish the screen itself had a matte finish instead of glossy; as it's in my living room with 4 windows with a lot of glare. But that's my fault really for not reading the specs closely enough.
Overall, I would not recommend this TV due to the issues listed. You can get a comparable TV's from other manufacturers with similar features for less money.

Very good TV
I purchased this TV since my last Samsung let me down and so did their customer service. This TV has a very nice picture- the only thing I wonder about is the refresh rate since it says it is 240 hz, but does not perform at that level. Don't get me wrong, it is still a great picture, but does not look like 240hz. Sony has won a new customer and I do need a second TV in the near future, definitely will check these out. BTW- it is true this TV has no 3d, but at this point I only think of the feature is more of a gimmick.

Best 2D LCD/LED TV on the Market
If 3D isn't important to you then Sony's 46NX800 is a TV worth considering. 46", 240hz BRAVIA with edge lit LED is pretty awesome for the price. Contrast of blacks and whiles are clean, sharp, and deep. Setup is simple and only takes a few seconds. Sound quality is pretty good but the experience improves significantly with surround sound turned on. Running through a secondary 5.1 sound source is even better - duh! TVs at this range will continue to come down in price so keep an eye out as this is a GREAT machine.
