KDL40EX40B Very disappointed primarly this model does not support the new widgets, and the remote is very slow to enter characters. NO Recomended January 23, 2011

Best of the best I've bought over a hundred tv's, first tube HDTV, then LCD's and Plasmas for our vacation rentals. This HDTV is one of my favorites. It looks expensive, feels expensive, the sound and picture quality is excellent, and overall adds to the feel of a well furnished top-of-the-line vacation rental. The Blu-ray DVD player built in works flawlessly, and is another high-end detail that lists nicely in ads on the Internet for our vacation rental. We furnish our homes with $3000 matress sets, massage chairs, and adding a Sony HDTV with built-in Blu-ray DVD player just makes it that much more attractive. Great TV, but you HAVE to update it out of the box ***Don't even open the box until you've gone to the support site and downloaded the latest firmware*** I spent a good hour trying to get the TV setup with intermittent menus locking up and the TV shutting off and turning on by itself. I was not able to update to the latest firmware over the internet despite a wired network connection. I had to download the latest Firmware, put it on a USB stick and update the TV that way. Once the update completed, the TV is working like a dream. Menus are very responsive. Picture quality is excellent and the features are unmatched. It's a shame it's so messed up without the required update. December 17, 2010
