Intelligent Scene Recognition (iSCN) Mode automatically detects seven different types of scenes and, within just 1/30th of a second, selects the appropriate camera settings: Backlight, Backlight Portrait, Twilight, Twilight Portrait, Portrait, Landscape and Macro.

Smile Shutter™ technology

Smile Shutter™ technology captures a smile the moment it happens. Simply press the Smile Shutter™ button and the camera does the rest. You can also indicate the degree of Smile Detection Sensitivity. Intelligent Scene Recognition can now be used together with Smile Shutter™ mode when the Intelligent Auto mode is on. Disappointing !! I used to have a Sony Cybershot DSCN1, THE BEST CAMERA EVER and after 5 years, I decided to change because the pictures were more and more blurred. After long research, I bought the DSC-W310 hoping I would get the same quality pictures (maybe not exactly the same because of the difference of prices, but quality nonetheless). Unfortunately, I have had this camera for 6 months now, and I have discovered new problems pretty much EVERY DAY: - the camera is VERY LONG to shoot ! Sometimes, 3 or 4 seconds after I pushed the button. - pictures look great on the small screen and then appear blurred on my computer. - pictures at night are REALLY bad. Most of the time, I do not see anything. The only good thing is the quality of the videos. To sum up: DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA, except if you take really basic photos. March 8, 2011
Great Camera for still photos Great camera for still photos and outside shots, the only thing that I have problems with is that I can't take action shots at all, you can't turn off the auto-focus, at least I've not been able to figure out to do it yet. For sports and action shots it just doesn't cut it, which is what I use mine for a lot. January 24, 2011
cyber shot thinking about sony i thought i am buying superior quality. not so with sony cyber shot. blurry images, poor color. as soon as the camera got wet i had to trash it. sony just doesn't have it. January 22, 2011
Great Camera For it's Price This is a great camera for the price of $99, you can't ask for more. It takes great pictures and the battery lasts long. My only con is that the design is a bit simple. I'm big on "pretty" and the buttons and stuff aren't really attractive but if you don't care about how the buttons look then this is YOUR camera. Would suggest it. December 29, 2010
