Awesome Purchase I love my Reader,it was worth every penny I spent on it. When I was looking around for this device I debated between the reader and the kindle. Not knowing much about Amazon and if they would be reliable or not I bought the reader. I chose the reader because it had more features than the kindle and I knew I could trust the company. I made an excellent choice. Even in class one day me and this girl were comparing my reader to her kindle towards the end she said " I like yours a lot better than mine." So in the end I made a wise choice. I have had no problems and I absolutley love it. May 20, 2010
A thing of Beauty This is my first eReader, so I have nothing else to compare it to. I can say as a first time user I am incredibly impressed overall. I love having the option to use the touchscreen/stylus if so desired. I have found myself using the page turn buttons at the bottom more often, though. I am a reader who always held my books from the bottom so this is very natural for me. I appreciate the fact that I no longer need to use both hands, but can do everything with the one holding the eReader. More often than not when I sit down to read one of my feline friends ends up in my lap, so now I have at least one hand free. Double tap in the top right corner to bookmark your page...double tap on a word while reading and the dictionary definition pops up at the bottom of your screen. All very handy, and very easy to figure out. I am a reader with progressive lenses. For years it has become increasingly difficult for me to read for long periods of time without significant eyestrain. Those days are over. I read for at least 8 hours straight, and at varying distances with zero eyestrain. This is the first time that has happened in more years than I care to remember. I highly recommend purchasing an eReader cover with your device. It made it feel more natural (book like) and not so 'exposed'. It feels as though it is more protected inside that cover as far as the touch screen is concerned. I say all the way around this is definitely one of the best investments I have ever made as a book lover, and would highly recommend without reservation to anyone else. November 1, 2009
Warning!! Read this before you buy Now, i don't know if anyone else has had this problem but i thought i would share it just in case. I had gotten the touch ereader for christmas and was pretty excited. I quickly downloaded a whole bunch of books and it was working quite well for a couple of months. Then it suddenly started freezing up on me and lines starting appearing all over the screen. Even when the reader was off you could still see the lines. I had called tech support and we went through the whole troubleshooting process and nothing changed. They then recommended that i send it in. Instead, my boyfriend bought me a whole new one. That lasted almost 6 months before the same thing happened again with a slight new twist...half the screen is blank. Once again i called tech support did the troubleshooting and was told i would have to send it in, pay over $120.00 for them to taje a look at both the readers and then send me a refurbished one. If the troubleshooting didn't work, why would the have to send it to tech? They already know somethings wrong with it and i just want a replacement not a refund. To top it off, what makes them think a refurb is any better than a new one especially if it crapped out on me twice and both were brand spanking new. So, if y'all are thinking about buying one don't bother if something goes wrong, just call it quits and get a different e reader. March 3, 2011
Almost but missed I enjoyed the experience for about 6 months, despite poor quality (or dated) software and re-charge only through your computer (and unable to use the device during recharge). Then I started to get intermittent screen failure, just half the screen. Now just over 12 months of ownership, it's failed. Why not use the warranty? Well, I took the risk on Sony's good name and purchased an international device not available in my location (Australia is forgotten often). So that part is my fault. The model is now available in Australia, but do I want the same hassles and buy a replacement .... as yet undecided January 9, 2011
