Conserve energy with Presence Sensor

The Presence Sensor helps you conserve energy when you forget to turn off the VE5 HDTV. If the Presence Sensor detects that you've been away from your HDTV for 5, 30, or 60 minutes, the backlight will automatically turn off, but the volume will remain on so you can still hear the sound. If you don't return after the display has been off for 30 minutes, the VE5 turns completely off.

Dynamic Backlight Control

The Dynamic Backlight Control feature adjusts the brightness of the backlight both to optimize image quality and to reduce power consumption. It works in real time, optimizing for both bright outdoor images and dark interior shots scene-by-scene for even greater power savings.

HD input x 7

Get versatile HD connection options with seven HD inputs. Great HDTV!!! I also purchased this TV in bundle with a slim PS3. For the amount of money spent versus products (TV & PS3) received, there is probably not a better deal available. I have it connected to my satellite box with HDMI cables along with the HD service. The picture is extremely vibrant. It is very difficult to envision the picture being in clearer. My guests always comment about the detail of the picture. They say that the picture is so lively that the background scenery looks artificial. Sports broadcasts are dynamite especially when connected to an HD Surround system!!!! I am not disappointed at all with the performance of this TV. I do wish that the bundle would have included an option for a 55" TV version. If you have an opportunity to buy this TV, I highly recommend the purchase. November 29, 2011

My first HDTV :) This is a great TV. I bought this as a bundle deal with PS3 slim a month ago and I am loving it so far. This is my first HDTV. Picture Quality is good.I got some calibration settings from CNET, after adjusting to those settings my TV got the best color,contrast. Now it is simply life like.You have a setting called 'theatre' where it smooths the picture. According to specifications Sony LCD 46 inches uses a max of 160 watts. This TV got some eco-friendly features which I think might be a Sony's publicity factors. This TV got 4 HDMI outputs.One of the cool feature is you can use TV remote to control PS3 but please note you need to use HDMI cable.And another cool feature is TV will automatically detect if you have something connected to input and all other will not be highlighted.so when you want select you don't have to scroll all of them. Another impressive feature is sound, I thought the sound will be very poor but it is not bad as I thought.It can easily manage a large room.You can live with it if you are tight on budget for buying home theater system. What I don't like: None Overall, this is a great tv and I defnitely recommend it. February 11, 2010

I've been tracking this model since July of 2009, reading all the reviews, going to several stores and comparing them to others, I mad the final decision on Sunday, Jan 10,2010, ordered it over the phone,the sales rep was very knowledgeable, and answered all my questions to my satisfaction, that was on a Sunday evening, and the set was delivered the next Wednesday morning,! on Jan 13,, now that's what I call ground transportation! "Free delivery"., Now the real skinny on the set! I've had this for a month, really checked it out with all the different settings, The picture is one of the best I've seen, I saw several reviews about sound issues, I can't find anything to complain about, the sound is great, I just use the built in speakers, and so far so good, I can't say if a surround system would make any difference in the quality of the sound or not. I have two 26" Bravia sets,and never had any problems with them,over the last four years, so I was anticipating a good quality set with this 46" unit, I was not disappointed, this is the best t.v. I've owned, I was originally attracted to it because it was energy efficient, only 160 watts to run it, most l.c.d.s in it's class run on 245Wattes or higher! and the Plasmas will take you to the poor house, the motion sensor works well, but if you sit real still for a long period of time, you better set it for 2 or 3 hr. or it will display a shut off warning,then you have to wave you hand to let the set know that some one is in the room., this is a great way to save energy if you have kids that leave the TVs on when they go out side. I just watched the Supper Bowl, and the Motion flow, works great, no image blurring,when the ball is moving,in the air, can't wait for the Olympics to start!, I researched this unit for seven months, before I made the move, I'm not one bit disappointed, I would recommend this unit to everyone,can't find any thing to complain about! Best TV! I purchased this TV as a bundle with the PS3 from Walmart and fell in love. I was shocked to believe they were actually selling a 46" Sony LCD and a PS3 for that price. The picture is beautiful, the sound is amazing, REAL easy to setup. I only wish the sensor had a 2 hour or 3 hour setting for watching a movie. Aside from that it's pretty much perfect.
