DVD Format Video Recording

The DVD recording format in MPEG2 (SD) delivers digital picture and sound quality comparable to that of MiniDV, but on DVD. Playback of these DVDs couldn't be simpler (depending upon the playback device used). good buy had this camcorder for 3yrs, happy with it, once its dark forget it. flash accessories are expensive and drains batteries October 8, 2011

I really like this camcorder! The review that says this camera sucks is because there is no information in the users manual regarding the fact that you need to have the latest condec drivers installed on your computer in order to be able to make the usb connection and download the videos using Windows Movie Maker. For two years I thought it couldn't be done. Bought several video software programs, etc.... no downloads. I saw an eight year old explain about condecs on YouTube and now am downloading my videos effortlessly. Sony doesn't make you aware of this, which is not the camcorder's fault. Great little camera. Great zoom lens with Karl Zeiss lens for extreme clarity at long focal distance. Only drawback is the LCD screen has icons that are unlabeled and not intuitive. Lots of trial and error to figure out. Great little camcorder I've owned my 810 for a little over 2 years and i use it quite frequently. it has never let me down, especially since i have a back up battery. the only flaws I've encountered were the nonexistence of a night light and a standard mic input. which means you have to buy the specific light and mic.
