Because 'Silver' doesn't always mean '2nd Best' :) I've owned this controller for over two years now, along with my silver PS2. It feels just as good as a PS2 controller ought to feel -- it's very good and durable for games like SSXTricky and Gran Turismo 4, which demand a lot out of it. One day, my extra silver controller's X button stopped responding correctly. I had to hold the button all the way down to get any sort of response at all while playing GT4, and I don't know what caused it. I don't know if it was my cousins wearing my controller out with playing SSXTricky literally ALL DAY for the past three days, or it was just a bad controller. I'll never know, because I ended up tossing the thing in the trash, and banning them from playing for a day. Given that the PS1 controllers that I still have buried in my closet after over 13 years, as well as the old black PS2 controller my brother lent me to replace that silver one (the one that came with my system still works), still work good as new, so it's not exactly a common thing for me. I just hope this controller never goes out of print, and I wish the silver PS2 console would be re-released as well. It's still a beautiful, reliable system, after all these years: especially more reliable than the old boxy PS2 form. Plus, this thing, after 9 years of the PS2 still being sold, could AT LEAST be under $20. There's no good reason why it ought to be costing that much at this point. October 19, 2010
