It is undeniable that in terms of pure audio quality this Sony XPLOD model is without equal in the entire boombox world. The speakers are of exceptional audiophile quality capable of producing deep room filling bass along with crystal clear vocals. The large and beautiful red speakers are based on a discrete power amplifier system. The speaker system consists of two full range 4 inch speakers and a 10cm power drive woofer with three distinct levels of bass adjustment. The Power Drive Woofer lights up in bright red when it is engaged. This sonic powerhouse of a boombox is capable of producing 20 watts of power (RMS) at no more than 10% total harmonic distortion. The CFD-G505 boombox comes standard with a high performance, drift free FM/AM tuner with telescopic antenna, cassette recorder, and CD player with a 1-bit D/A converter for outstanding Sony sound. In addition a full function remote commander is included, as well as a headphone jack for private listening, and a 4 band non-adjustable equalizer to suit your musical tastes. The stereo operates on 8 D cell batteries and 2 AAA batteries for the remote control. AC power is also available for the unit. The boombox is heavy and therefore not easily portable because of it. The LCD display is small and should be backlit. I do wish it had even more amplifier power and an HD radio tuner built-in. Of course this Sony boombox has a sturdy carry handle and can play tunes from your iPod/iPhone via an auxiliary line input jack. This boombox is reasonably priced. Once you listen to this Sony boombox, you will never listen to another brand in this product category. The unit has a sturdy construction to it and should last for many years with proper care.

Collecting dust
I ignored the warnings from people at work that this thing did not have what it took to be a good work radio. There are at least 5 of us with worthless boom boxes. They sound good at home, however, mine is just sitting collecting dust. Please, please bring back the CFD-F10 model! That was much lighter & it really put out the sound! This model, well, anyone want to buy it cheap? Mines for sale...

Great quality, and rich sound!
I purchased the Xplod® CD Radio Cassette Recorder on Amazon after doing a search for a new portable radio. I really wanted to find something I could take to the beach or some other outdoor event that would have some real sounds coming through. too many similar products have a weak sound and speakers, and it sounds thin. The Xplod® CD Radio Cassette Recorder gives you a rich sound that plays your music just as you want it. I love the style on this and would definitely recommend it to all my music loving friends and DJs!
