400 Disk DVD Player
I am a custom A/V retailer. I install many of these players in customer's homes. We find the reliability and ease of use one of the biggest draws towards this equipment.
Many of my customers have extensive DVD and CD based music libraries. This player gives a place to park these disks, and provides fast access to them.
I have two of these operating in my house, one for movies and one for music. Sound and pictures are great.
As for titles, we provide a sheet to our customers that they can write down titles as the disks are inserted, and this helps the title programming later. We have found that few disks contain title info.
We train customers in our showroom prior to them actually having to program these titles.
It takes me approximately 60 to 90 minutes to program 400 disk titles, and most customers can do it in 2 hours or less, the first time. Preparation is the key.
I FEEL THAT SONY SHOULD PROVIDE A WORK SHEET WITH EACH UNIT. WE HAVE A 25 DISK PER PAGE SHEET THAT SPEEDS UP PROGRAMMING, WHICH WE SUPPLY WITH EVERY SALE.
As for design, al electronics are a work in progress, and everything improves and simplifies with age. Feedback is what drives engineering, and produces change.
Love the product, and I sell it to others. A good low cost solution to a problem most people don't even know they have. My pre-k kids operate this with out problems.

Great for vacation homes!
We have this disc changer in our vacation home. It's great because our video library is at the hands of rental guests without being out in the open for discs to go "missing". We have this, and all our other A/V equipment, locked in the A/V closet and guests can easily scroll through our entire library to find a movie to watch. We also have a 1-disc changer located outside of the closet for times when we, or guests, bring other movies. It was a wonderful solution to stop the theft/misplacement of our DVDs!

Love it
Biggest pro is it keeps my children from scratching the discs. As mentioned many times the user interface is pratically worthless. Not user friendly in the least. As others have mentioned I have an exel spreadsheet with three lists. One sorted by disc # another by title and another by genre. Will probably buy the blu ray version next but hope they have a better interface.

This Model is Great but..........
First I would like to state that is Model is GREAT but the 200 disc model was and still is better. (Had it since day one and it still works) Sony should have used the same software as the 200 disc model. it is easier to find your collection on the explorer menu. punch in a number and play. this one I just made a list in my favorite program (EXCEL) and use that. all in all though its good could be better.
