There are 180 different combinations possible: Portrait, Baby, Walk, Tripod , Backlight, Landscape, Spotlight, Twilight, Macro, Low light, Auto Wind Noise Reduction. On standard SteadyShot camcorders a single “shift lens” is moved in the optical block to offset camera shake. Balanced Optical SteadyShot™ w/ Active Mode moves the entire optical block at once, maintaining the integrity of the optical path and improving shake reduction by up to 13X. It also reduces vignetting (light falloff towards the edge of a scene) and lowers distortion in videos and still photos.

New Advanced Sound System for Premium Audio

Premium video demands premium audio. This is why Sony has enhanced the sound system in select Handycam^® camcorders. A wider dynamic range allows for clearer and cleaner sound recording when shooting in areas with either too much background noise or where the audio level is too low. Additionally, manual audio level adjustment allows users to fine tune sound recordings. Direct Copy to external HDD without PC¹³

Store your memories in a whole new way with the ability to copy videos from your camcorder directly to an external hard disk drive¹³ (sold separately), all without a computer. Your camcorder can also access videos stored on the external hard drive for playback on your HDTV⁴, allowing you to utilize the camcorder’s handy playback features.

Record sequential still photos with Golf Shot

Building on the slow-motion capture capabilities of Smooth Slow Record, Golf Shot captures a few seconds of motion as a sequence of up to 22 still images, which can be viewed/printed individually or as a composite “sequence shot” image, perfect for analyzing the nuances of a golf swing, tennis serve, and other fast action.
