Good but Crashes I have had the computer for 2 months now. It started crashing from my first start up. The (Not responding) message pops up a couple times a day whenever I try to run two or more programs an have multiple tab open on a web browser. I have to use a hard restart every time. This is not what I expected from a VAIO. I bought my wife one years ago, and besides replacing the fan, the computer has had excellent performance. I was very excited and researched ultra books for months before buying; this is very disappointing. May 13, 2013
Best Looking, Best Performance & Spec'd Laptop This has to be the best, sexiest, most sleek, fast, performance and best laptop I have ever owned and the best laptop on the market. I typically upgrade my laptop every year and sometimes every two years depending. But, I do not see myself upgrading anytime in the near future. I previously owned some sort of sleek, nice and fast Samsung laptops like the Series 7 and Series 5 but those laptops have nothing on this laptop at all. This laptop is the best and I just love everything about it. This laptop is in the Ultrabook category but I will say it is a little thicker but not by much than some of other Ultrabooks but that does not bother me one bit. Again it's not that much thicker and not much you will notice. Honestly it feels more tougher and better build quilty than other Ultrabooks on the market. Trust me this thing is thin and sleep. Sexy is the word to use. lol. Build quality is top notch. This was my first Vaio computer and I am very very proud to have the nice chrome Vaio on the aluminum lid and of course the aluminum strip on the hinge. Again, Sexy. lol. Anyways I have no wory with build quality and it almost feels like holding a bar of silver. The screen is thin but feels like a tank. Solid and beautiful. The chassis is perfectly constructed and built with precession. Everything on this laptop feels like it was made by hand and top quality construction and parts. Performance of this laptop is fast and smooth. Everything like the processor, memory, hard drives (yes two hard drives). With this laptop you get a 1 TB hard drive which is plenty of storage and you also get a solid state drive which boots the computer super fast and helps run things a little smoother. Trust me it does the job perfect. The memory is fantastic and makes things amazing. The display is beautiful and rick. This is a 1080P Full HD LED display and I would rather watch movies on this display than my 42" 1080P HD LCD. The colors and quality are just amazing and rich. The touch screen is amazing and makes some things super easy to use and faster than using the mouse or typing. Plus there are a lot of Windows 8 apps and features where the touch screen really works great. I installed Office 2010 and works awesome with the touch screen. Microsoft states one of the biggest reasons for Office 2013 was for touch screen users but honestly I have no issue using touch with Office 2010. The keyboard is super nice and comfortrable. The backlit keyboard is beautiful and a nice feature. I find myself typing at home in the dark a lot and the backlit keyboard makes this job so nice. Plus you get a Num pad which is a bonus and I use it a lot and even if I didn't it's there if I need it. The track pad is nice and just the right size. Some people complain about the track pad size being to small but honestly if it were any smaller it would sort of be in the way of typing at times. But the track pad is multi gesture and works flawlessly. Clicks perfect and tracks finger multi gestures and movements perfectly. And the Sony Vaio dedicated buttons near the top of the chassis toward the screen are nice and useful at times. Some people have complained about fan noise but let me tell you it's nothing huge and it typically does not happen to be that loud at all. At first I thought it was but I think I was trying to find flaws or issues in the computer. Kind of like buying a new car and listening for every sound and movement. Honestly it's perfectly fine. I ran a test which shows the heat and everything on this laptop is way below high and it's running super smooth, it's just a fan. Not like anyone is going to hear it, like I said I think I was looking for something. The 3rd Gen i7 is super fast as well, forgot to mention that, never lags and nothing. I run lots of programs and nothing or no problems. CD/DVD drive is nice feature for an ultrabook and it's great Sony kept this as most no longer have them. You have all the connectivity ports you could ever need or want. Battery holds a decent charge and no complaint at all. Weight is not an issue and is pretty light compared to some other makers out there. So basically it's hard to find a laptop these days that has two things which are performance and looks. Most laptops have one or the other. They ether are sexy, sleek and beautiful or they are fast, ugly and clunk of plastic. But this computer has the best of everything. Don't waste your money on a Dell, HP, ASUS, Acer or whatever - it's all junk and I have used and owned all these brands out there. I use to only buy Samsung laptops but if you were to not want a Sony or a Sony Vaio than I would opt for a Samsung laptop. Stay away from others I mentioned and even if you have to save up for the Sony Vaio or Samsung it's well worth every penny. Windows 8 took some getting use to but I love it now. I thought at first I would hate it but it's so much nicer and easier to use than Windows 7 and beats the heck out of XP. lol. Man I don't know how I have lived without Windows 8 now. lol. Takes some getting use too but you love it once you learn it. Watch some YouTube videos which will help you learn everything there is to know about Windows 8 and all of it's great features. Nothing negative and only positive about this computer. This computer should sale for around $1800 to $2000 in my opinion. This laptop is a piece of art. Beautiful and amazing. Also check out other Vaio's that are on the market, they look pretty sweet and nice as well. BTW when buying a laptop sleeve, bag or whatever. Make sure it fits a 16" or larger because it will not fit a 15" or 15.5" laptop sleeve, case, bag or whatever. Also this laptop comes with In Home Service. If you have an issue Sony will send one of their technicians to your house to repair or replace anything that goes wrong with the laptop - that's as long as it's nothing broken due to your own fault of course. FREE Plus if your into music recording, video editing, art or anything. Sony includes it's very own software's which are worth hundreds and they do an amazing job. That is a bonus feature as well. Only other company that does this is Apple with it's Mac's. Thank you Sony for this laptop April 18, 2013
Love it THE LAPTOP: I customized my laptop, opting for 1TB (5400rpm) + 24GB SSD hybrid hard drive. KEYBOARD: The keyboard includes a number pad, which is excessive and bulky to me because I have no use for it. I heard that programmers and such really love this feature, tough. The back lit key board looks really cool in the dark-- however, the keys are a little spaced and do not give as much as I'm used to. But these are all things that I will grow to love and do not detract from the quality of the laptop itself at all. TOUCH SCREEN: I'm a little skeptical of how scratch resistant the touch screen is and am planning on buying a screen protector. Same goes for the lid, but that's just because I'm meticulous about these things. The screen is nice and responsive. Windows 8 is very interactive, and having the touch screen is nice, but not necessary. My laptop just arrived this morning, so I haven't been able to use it as much as I'd like to. I'm thinking of purchasing a stylus just for the accuracy it provides with sketching things and such on the touch screen. My god, the screen is kinda huge and really bright, though. I think I understand why the battery life is so sort. But since I usually have my laptop plugged in, it's really not a problem for me. OVERALL: I can see myself taking this laptop just everywhere in spite of it's larger size. I wish that I can get all of the features in this laptop but in a smaller one... And if there is one thing I could change about this laptop, I would take out the number pad. It doesn't over heat or even get anywhere close to being warm like other laptop I've had, which is a big plus for me. I really like how sleek and sexy it is, though. And I'm definitely in love with how fast it is and how sharp and bright the screen is. I will definitely brag about it this laptop. >> I did not give this laptop 5 stars just because I'm really particular about my keyboards. The laptop itself is fantastic << March 29, 2013
Frustration Free Specs on my machine: Sony VAIO Series T 8gb RAM 256gb SSD drive Intel i7 1.9gz 13.3" touchscreen Win 8 64-bit I purchased this a Series T about a week ago directly from Sony. I was replacing an Acer ultrabook i3 that was a little slow. I did a lot of comparison shopping and this VAIO T's main competition was the Lenovo Yoga. Pricewise it was a toss-up. The Yoga was perhaps better reviewed, but the lion's share of my work is from the keyboard so I preferred the traditional configuration. The VAIO: it's reasonably light, has plenty of connectivity, and most of all, it is blazing fast. This is no surprise with an i7 and a solid state drive, but I really had no idea what the combination would be like. Boot time is probably under 6 seconds. Wake up from sleep or hibernate is virtually instantaneous. Programs load fast....what more can I say? When I want to work I just open the lid and it's ready: no frustration. Cons: Several reviews complained about the keyboard, but I've not had any trouble. I do miss backlighting for it. Dedicated graphics would be a nice addition, but so far I've not noticed it--I'm not a gamer and am using business oriented applications. Neither the backlit keyboard nor dedicated graphics were an available option on the T with a touch screen. The Sony T is thicker than the really thin ultrabooks, but it's more of an aesthetic issue than a practical one, and the thickness permits a VGA connector. I have a dual-band wifi n-band router, and I can't connect at the higher speed. I really haven't tried troubleshooting it yet. The machine was shipped from China, and the box arrived badly dented ((no fault of Sony's, I'm sure). The notebook was fine. In short, I'm very happy. This machine flies. February 12, 2013
