High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography captures more scene contrast than a single exposure can handle by combining the best highlight detail from one shot and the best shadow detail from another for one incredible shot. Peaking AF display

The Peaking AF display makes precise manual focusing much easier by highlighting the edges that are in focus in your choice of three colors (white, red, or yellow). This is especially helpful during macro or portrait photography where your focal plane can make or break your shot.

180-degree tilt-able 3.0” Touch LCD

The NEX-5R is equipped with a tilt-able LCD screen that flips up 180-degrees without sacrificing the compactness for which the 5-series is renowned for. This makes taking great self-portraits incredibly easy since users can precisely compose shots, choosing to include people or objects in the frame for more satisfying results.

6-image layering

The camera leverages the large, APS-C image sensor and captures six images in a fraction of a second. The camera then combines the data from the 6 different images up to ISO 25600 to create a single image. This method is used to control blur in Anti-Motion Blur mode or to get cleaner, sharper nighttime pictures in Hand-held Twilight mode.

Auto Portrait Framing

Simply photograph a person and Auto Portrait Framing will save an additional, optimally framed image in portrait or landscape orientation. Fast Auto Focus

Some cameras in this class are slow to focus. That can make you miss the shot on fast-moving subjects like sports and unpredictable subjects like pets and babies. Enhanced Tracking Focus

Sensor I received my Sony NEX 5r. I am very disappointed with the quality. I am so happy when I open the box, is nice and pack, got the camera out and take pictures of the kids outside with nice sunday afternoon, and to very nice video as well. I check the pictures and video on the computer and I see spotty everywhere, at first I thought my lense is dirty. I clean it and when out took some pictures. Still see dirty spots on the pictures. Then I took off the lense and look at the sensor with 5x magnify. I can see the sensor is dirty, it seem like Solder splash all over it. I sent the camera back. Thinking about getting different camera such as Nikkon. March 8, 2013
Awesome camera! This is my first compact system camera after finally upgrading from a point-and-shoot (cybershot). I really like the size of this camera and the quality is really fantastic. I've taken a few photography classes and know my way around a dark room so this was my first venture into digital photography and I think the NEX-5R is a perfect transitional camera for someone looking to upgrade. Stunning Video Quality!! I am usually a dedicated Canon user, as such my main unit was the Canon T3i. Problem is that I need to be able to record 1080p 60p (60fps). Almost all Canon DSLR's are incapable of doing this simple task, as well as Nikon's. I've found that most Sony DSLR's do... but I also travel to Tokyo often, and needed something a little more portable. I originally planned to get this cam for my fiance'.. but once I tested it out for myself, it was perfect. The stills are awesome, and the camera is very compatible with my Mac, and editing software such as Aperture, Final Cut, and Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro. Also Lightroom, and iPhoto but not so great with iMovie. Compressor and Motion are great too. The articulated touch screen is a HUGE plus. With the fact that I can also mount Sony DSLR lens to this unit with optional adapter was a huge selling point for me. The auto focus on this thing is phenomenal!! To say the least. Wish it had flash I've been waiting to get a new camera and I would really like this one however it doesn't have built in flash its upsetting! October 8, 2012
