Best podcast player ever invented This is my third one. I smashed my first one and lost the next one, but still bought a third because it's THAT good. I have bought several other brands and types, but they were quickly relegated to my junk drawer because of what they can't do. Especially regarding podcasts, where you want the ability to pick up where you left off, speed it up, slow it down, or change the sound dynamics. March 1, 2013
This is a GREAT MP3 Player. I've had it for about six months, and it is still going strong, even after I lost it under 1 ft of snow for about two weeks. February 22, 2013
I regret buying this brand of MP3 player I'm very disappointed in this Sony Walkman NWZ-E474 MP3 player and after one day of use I regretted buying it. So here are my gripes. 1) Using the included Media Go software to transfer songs from iTunes to this player did not work at all much less work as advertised and I'm the kind person you come to when you need your computer fixed. Media Go showed that the files had been transferred by way of indicating that over 5GB of space had been taken up on the player but the only songs I could get to play were the five that came with the player. And then precisely following the directions I made a play list of my favorite songs and couldn't get the list to transfer and/or the player just wouldn't recognize it. I kept getting an error message on the player that there were no play lists even though Media Go said there was. So what I finally did was just manually transfer the songs to the 'Music' folder in the player using Windows Explorer. So using the ear buds now I can play songs and the all functionality works okay even though Apple iPod is still better. 2) But now my real gripe has to do with why I replaced my dead iPod in the first place. I originally bought an iPod so I could listen to my music in my car without disruptions and not have to listen to the radio. Without disruptions is the key here. When I first plugged the device into the USB port on my car stereo the player started from the beginning of the library and after skipping forward I realized that it would play songs in alpha order by artist. I unplugged the player and noted that the playback setting was still in shuffle but my car stereo wasn't. So I plugged it back in and changed that setting. It started playing from the beginning of the library but I skipped to the next song and then listened to a couple of songs with the understanding that I would have to do that to get some sort of random shuffle. As a test I unplugged it in the middle of the third song and plugged it back in expecting it to pick up where it left off. That didn't happen and that was most disappointing. It started playing songs from the top again and I noticed that the shuffle setting on the car stereo didn't stick. So every time I plug this player into my car stereo I have to quickly change the setting to shuffle and skip to the next song to get a shuffled playback since that is what I want. Having to go through this is just annoying and I haven't even had the player for three days. And for now, my final gripe is that I'm getting a lot of 'ID3 Tag Request Error" errors. So when this happens the player just skips the song and keeps moving forward until it finds one that it can play. So I suppose if I don't want that to happen I'm going to have to find a way to fix those ID3 Tags. I never had ID3 tag errors on iTunes or with my former iPod. Why bother to put all your favorite music on an MP3 player if the thing doesn't work as expected? I didn't have any of these problems with my iPod. Even though I was very satisfied with its user controls and functionality I thought the iPod was overpriced and even worse it didn't quite last 3-years before it died. And for that is why I shopped around for a different brand at a better price. I had Sony Walkman products before and each and every time I was satisfied with their performance which is why I picked this brand over the other limited choices. When this Sony Walkman MP3 player dies and even though they're overpriced I'm going back to the Apple iPod. The user controls and functionality are far easier to use and are definitely superior compared to what comes with this Sony MP3 player. At current prices it's just a shame I'll have to pay a about a $60 premium for that convenience on the 8GB model. And FYI, I bought MP3 player online from the Sony Store. January 13, 2013
