Exceptional Product
This is the Sony standard; a simple, elegant device without any extraneous features. The music quality is superb, and the device is extremely durable. The video quality is practical, but I did not purchase this device to use as a video player. The only recommendation I could provide is my desire for Sony to manufacture the E Series with more memory; 64 GB+ would be grand. All things considered, this is an exceptional product. Please be aware that this device is not meant to compete with a modern Smart Phone. This is a simple audio device without any extraneous or unnecessary features. My attraction to this device is that this product is extremely simple and durable.

Great Product for Nearly Any Audiophile
I searched and searched for a product to replace my iPod. I was so fed up with feeling like I forced to get Apple products, because they were the only digital music players (that I had known of, at the time) that were of any decent quality, but I can't stand using iTunes(PC user).
I was so excited when I found the Walkman; and, when I began using it, I was more than pleased with how easy it was to figure everything out on it. The MediaGo software is a MILLION times better than iTunes. The interface is really simple and nice looking. It's so much easier to use than the Zune, which I found to be a bit counter-intuitive.
The features on this product fit perfectly for what I was looking for- a straight up, no bull, music playing device. I wanted something that wasn't full of apps, or unnecessary programs. I have a great smartphone, so why would I want some android or apple touchscreen?
Only other things I could wish for would be:
One with more storage, which will probably eventually come out anyway, I know the more expensive video player, and android-powered ones have 32gb of space.
I would also like to see more accessories--specifically, a variety of cases and docking stations, or something like the iHome, which has the dock, alarm clock, radio, and a remote control, Or, a dock-style car charger would be pretty rad.
Overall, though, I give this device itself a 5/5 because it met all the criteria that I was personally seeking, and exceeded my expectations in quality and easy to use features--karaoke mode is especially fun!

Hoped to replace by iPod, bad decision
I rarely give items low ratings, especially to ones that come so close to having everything I want. First, the good: The sound quality is great - better than my iPod. I also love the Walkman's size, shape and audio options. But it has some very frustrating features that greatly limit its use: Despite claiming it plays songs from iTunes, my Walkman doesn't copy M4Ps, a large portion of my Tunes songs (it does copy M4As). Next, I every time I try to update my music, the "MediaGo" software deletes all songs and resynchs, taking hours. Worse, it can crash when other programs are in the foreground, starting the whole process over again.
Regarding the player itself, the main reason I purchased the Walkman was for the tactile sensation of physical buttons instead of virtual ones on competitive devices, because I like changing songs with the player in my pocket. This works, but unlike the iPod, it's very easy to push the wrong button (they feel the same), dropping me unexpectedly out my playlist into various other menus -- with no apparent way back other than a series of button clicks and scrolls. This requires me to routinely pull out the Walkman into open view (which can't easily be done in bright sunlight while biking, jogging, snowboarding, etc.) to "find my way back"-- precisely the action I hoped to avoid by purchasing the Walkman over the competition. The solution would be to space the buttons further apart, allow users to configure button actions, and/or give each button a unique shape/feel -- like the older iPods did. Finally, the small font size and "white text on black background" is almost impossible read outside in sunlight.

Disappointed
i bought this because i really liked the older walkman i have and i use it every day to listen to books from the library at work // there are only just a few options to use with overdrive and now it got even smaller - thanks sony
