Small as it is, the HXR-NX70U camcorder has serious production credentials. Time code with user bits automatically stamps each frame for positive identification in editing. The supplied Sony ECM-XM1 shotgun mic is highly directional—maximizing the signal and minimizing the noise. Balanced XLR mic inputs reject electromagnetic interference for unhindered audio. Switchable phantom power supports mics that need it, while true input level controls put you in charge of sound.
Sony professional G lens.
In many respects, it's the lens that takes the picture. That's why Sony outfitted the HXR-NX70U with a bright, sharp Sony professional G Lens. There's manual lens control with an assignable ring that operates focus, iris or zoom. The 10x optical zoom starts at a generous 26.4mm wide angle, for beautiful landscapes and flexible interior shots even when space is at a premium. It extends to 264mm telephoto (35mm equivalent).
Ready for any assignment.
The HXR-NX70U is ideal as a B cam or crash cam, and is compact enough to shoot discreetly without drawing attention. Because nowadays every shoot is a multi-camera shoot, it's the perfect camcorder to park on a bookshelf to get an additional point of view during interviews. You can hand it to a production assistant to get extra coverage, and take it with you everywhere to be ready for the unexpected.
Versatile recording.
Like many cameras, the HXR-NX70U shoots Full HD 1080p. But it goes much further with 24p, 30p and 60p recording. Recording at 60p for a 24p timeline results in beautiful slow motion at 40% actual speed. The camera also captures 12.3-megapixel still images.
96GB internal flash memory.
With 96GB built-in flash memory, you can shoot more than seven hours of material at the camera's highest quality (HD PS mode, 28 Mbps), or up to 40 hours in HD LP mode (5 Mbps). Need more storage? A card slot accepts your choice of a Memory Stick PRO Duo™ or SD card (sold separately) to keep you shooting even longer. And with 2nd Edition firmware installed, the HXR-NX70U offers simultaneous recording of HD video footage to both the internal 96GB memory and a memory card, creating an instant and reliable backup.
