Good headphones but hurts to wear
I bought these cause i tried out the v55s and thought these were a better version. These are nice to look at and the sound is nice at resonable volumes but if you crank it up then everyone in the room can hear you and it gets really distorted but then again im not trying to destroy my eardrums anyways so im good. The plastic is creeky and makes alot of sounds as you try to adjust. I have had these phones for about 3 days now and im still trying to get used to the lack of cusioning, the diameter of the cans are really wide and i think sony should have just went with around ear instead of putting this on ear... some of my ear has cusion and some parts feel the hard plastic underneath... they should have put more cusioning. I bought these so i am gonna use them but i would have been happier with the v55s.

Excellent Headphones
I've wanted these headphones for a while, since I first heard about them on youtube. I am very satisfied with them. I've been a Sony fan for a while. I'm typing this review up on my Sony laptop. I've always knew Sony makes quality products, so far they've never failed. I've been looking for a great pair of headphones with amazing bass. I bought three pairs of Sony headphones within three months. These headphones are perfect. I strongly recommend them. This is the way music is suppose to be heard. I'll be purchasing the MDR-1Rs and the MDR-X10s next.

Full of yes.
I hav had these headphones for about three weeks now, and have had zero problems with them. They sound great, they deliver tight, deep bass down to 5hz. I highly recommend these over Beats by Dr. Dre as they sound exactly the same. Thanks Sony.

Good Headphones, Minor Problems
These are great headphones! Let me just get that out of the way because they actually are, the sound is some of the best i have heard. I originally had the ZX700's and returned them after 2 weeks because of a reverberation problem in the left speaker during moderate to heavy bass. I bought these instead and boy was i pleased i had since the sound was both louder and clearer in the V55's then the ZX700's in my opinion. I don't have to mention the style of these as you can see it in the pictures above, but i am going to mention it anyway since the pictures do not do it justice, these really are smashing looking headphones in person, more so then any low resolution picture can convey. Also the folding and swiveling abilities of these headphones has already come in handy a few times, however, it is there in that the problem lie; The Hinges. Now let me be perfectly clear on this issue as i want to be as fair as possible. You cannot hear the creaking when you are listening to music, repete, YOU CANNOT HEAR THE CREAKING WHEN LISTENING TO MUSIC. Now, when you can hear it however is any other time at all :P If you are watching videos or just have the headphones on but are not listening to anything (i.e you are talking to someone or are in between videos, etc.) it is a small creaking coming from what i have ascertained to be the semi-circle hinge that attached to the left and right side of the ear cup. When i have them on, if i move my jaw at all or tilt my head in any direction, like, 2 degrees... i am talking astonishing sensitivity to movement, you will hear this sound. I was willing to put up with it at first because it was minor, but with how often i use them and how often i have to hear it, after the past few weeks i have really reached my limit on this sound and it is becoming bothersome. It has not gotten worse, i am just getting tired of it. When i first bought them they did not make a sound for about 1 week to 10 days tops, then out of nowhere it just started happening. And i want to stress that i am immeasurably and almost unhealthily careful with these things. I rest them gently on a pillow next to my bed when not in use, for real :P So i am sure it was not do to me misusing them. Furthermore i have found a few other people on the world of the internet that own these that have said the same thing so i know i am not an isolated incident. Being completely honest, if i was not past the 30 days (and this problem happened like i said only 10 days in, i just didn't want to bother with it) then i would likely return them, which is a true shame if ever the word was used appropriately. I can't say enough good things about how they sound because they are marvelous, fantastic, easily worth twice the asking price in sound alone. But i just can't get past the, i am sorry to say, cheap quality of the hinging on these. Were it not for that they would get a 5 across the board from me. They were tight around the head as well, but that can fluctuate from person to person and has gotten better since i got them so i am not really counting that against them, just wanted to make note for those of you out there with slightly over normal sized Brain Holders. In hindsight, i kind of wish i had gotten the ZX600's since they have the same sound quality without the design drawback. And i would love to return these in exchange of the ZX600 if i were still able (if any one from Sony reads this, i would love to do that, thanks :) So in summary, if you don't mind the small creaking which again cannot be heard during music listening, then you have world class headphones here. But if you are going to multi-purpose use them (i.e outside of just music) or you tend to have them on a lot without actually having anything playing on them, then i promise that the sound will really start to bother you after a short time and you would be best advised to get the ZX600's. As a final note, it is entirely possible that this problem does not effect all V55's and most of them my be ok with no weird sounds at all, all i know is that mine and a few other people i have talked to do have that issue and it deserves an explanation and restitution.
