Happy owner I've had a few weeks to try this camcorder and have been very impressed with it. It is amazing what's packed into this little box. Generally image quality is great, and I was pleasently surprised by how good the stills were. The supersteadyshot is great, and almost as good as a steadycam. I wish I had a longer zoom but its not bad, I might get the telephoto adaptor, but so far its fine. On the post production side, Sony Vegas Platinum Studio makes editing the HD video with 5.1 surround sound the best. I tried some other software and found it unable to easily edit the sound. I would recommend this for moderate to advanced shooters. It has a bit too much just for casual shooters. July 16, 2012
Excellent Camcorder I am a professional filmmaker and needed a small camera to augment my Sony XDCAM EX-1. To my shock, the CX760V compaires extremely favorably to the professional level, EX-1! The color and image sharpness is very close to the EX-1, and footage from this camera intercuts beautifully with the more expensive camera. The balanced Steadi Shot is superb, giving you ALMOST a steadicam effect. I have done a 16 minute take, following my subject into and out of rooms, down hallways, etc. The footage is almost as smooth as a steadicam, but it was handheld. And finally, you can zoom in to a full 10x optical zoom handheld.....and it ALMOST looks like a tripod shot. I've shown this camera to other pro filmmakers and they are astounded with 1) the image quality and 2) the ability to handhold a camera and get such smooth footage. May 27, 2012
SONY CX700v`s better and cheaper ! i`v CX700v and it`s better than this one ! im not pay extra $300 for an extra 12MP & an extra 13x OIS ! you were must had an improvement on the Manual control & the GPS Locator lags & Color correction & full view finder, not only for extra 12MP and you tell me that`s an improvement ? even the ipod has a gps locator better than this cam ! panasonic had better color than this one ! canon had low light & full view finder better ! what`s gonna cost you if you`d improvement in all these features and then ask for more $$$ ? come on sony make.believe ! you`r doing very low improvement and adding to much money ! HDR-CX700V Was Better "My Button" feature is handy! It's currently set to display Steady Shot, Low Lux and Microphone Reference Level. (Most frequently used/changed settings when recording live music concerts.) Balanced Optical Steady Shot in Active Mode is a major disappointment. Image stabilization seems to over-compensate, correcting for motion even when there isn't any, causing videos to seemingly flicker and flutter when played back. It's also bulkier and heavier, which is hardly an improvement. This model's also dispensed with the sliding Active Accessory Door, replacing it with a somewhat fragile, flimsy hinged cover.
