Bad Choice
I have used older models of these Sony earbuds over the years and have always liked them until now. I rarely write reviews on products but wanted to on this one. I've always liked fhaving the remote access for adjusting volume. However, a new feature has been added that allows you to tap the middle of the remote to turn the audio play on/off (sort of like a pause button). I listen to audiobooks and frequently I start to listen to my audiobook and find that it is already playing and has been for hours. The remote is easily accidentally bumped when putting my iPod away, etc. So, I have lost my place in my book and my battery is drained. It's driving me crazy! I can't stand this new device and would not recommend this model. In addition, the volume adjustments intermittently stop working. I hope that Sony removes the start/stop play feature from the remote. Sometimes, improvements do not improve the model. The previous model was better.

Volume controls not working 2 days after opening
So I got these from Amazon and they worked great.. for the two runs I went out the last two days. Today the volume up and down button don't do anything on my iPhone 5 (they were fine for the last two days) so what gives? I have looked around and not found anything, so I would say STAY AWAY FROM THIS JUNK. I had a great pair of headphone from sony before this, but their quality control is totally vacant on this model.

Form factor and function Great- Sound OK
I used SONY Ex-71SL for many years and liked the fact that they were behind the neck and asymmetric, plus the sound cancellation was great and bass was deep and convincing. (Cant find them anymore except poorer quality knockoffs from China). These EX-61IP have lots of useful features including volume control, skip track, iphone commands, and nifty cord keeper (very useful). But sound suppressing is not as good as EX-71s and bass while not non-existant, sounds much flatter than the EX-71s. People listening to me tell me the mic works quite well. I am still looking for behind neck/asymmetric EX-71's with original sound quality/isolation and iphone features.

Amazing
I rarely write reviews, but felt compelled to do so after using them for a week now. I bought many different in-ear's over the past 3 years, from relatively inexpensive to really expensive, and none were really,,, perfect. Either uncomfortable with good sound or the other way round. These fit like they were molded in my ears, and the sound is better than most i ever heard. If i was a religious man i would have thanked God.
