3.3” (1,229K dots) OLED touch screen with wide viewing angle delivers brilliant-quality still images and movies while enabling easy focusing operation. The new reinforced-glass touch screen gives the camera a sturdy feeling and prevents color bleed during touch operations.

Intelligent Sweep Panorama™ HR mode

With Intelligent Sweep Panorama™ HR mode just press the shutter, pan the landscape and let the camera do the rest. It automatically links together each frame to produce a high resolution panoramic image providing the ability to print very large panoramic images as well as to zoom in on small details in the distance and crop them in for a larger view of the object. The high resolution image is a 42.9MP file which is compressed into a jpg. When opening the file in Picture Motion Browser ver. 5.6, it decompresses to the 42.9MP file.

Soft Skin mode

Portrait subjects will love the results. Soft Skin mode recognizes skin tones and reduces the appearance of blemishes and wrinkles without affecting the rest of the shot.

Backlight HDR

Don’t miss a single detail in high contrast shots. The built in backlight correction analyzes the image and automatically adjusts accordingly to give you a perfectly lit shot.

Face Detection technology

Sony’s Face Detection technology can automatically distinguish between children and adults. Face Detection technology detects up to eight individual faces and adjusts flash, focus, exposure, and white balance to help deliver crisp, properly lit images of family and friends.

Sweep Multi Angle™ mode

Smile Shutter™ technology

Smile Shutter™ technology captures a smile the moment it happens. Simply press the Smile Shutter™ button and the camera does the rest. Also select adult and child priority and indicate the degree of Smile Detection sensitivity. Intelligent Scene Recognition can be used together with Smile Shutter™ mode. Anti-blink Function

It’s frustrating to capture the perfect shot, only to review it later and discover subjects blinked during the photo. When the camera is set to Soft Snap, the Anti-blink function captures two images, recording only the photo with less squinting or blinking. If a blink is detected in other shooting modes, a warning will be displayed after you take the shot.

Background Defocus

A lot of functions in a such small camera. I love this camera. It's not only fashionable but also has a lot of good feature while shooting and post editing but still has small cons. I will buy W or H series at next time or NEX series. February 12, 2012

Great small camera So I was after a small camera that I can travel with that could take some great pictures. The TX-55 does exactly that. They also added some great features like extracting colors and made it easy to use each feature. My only complaint about the interface is that you pick a mode then go back to the main screen to then push the menu button to find out what you can customize. Design - Great overall with 2 things to complain a little bit about. 1) It sometimes feels a bit small and it is easy to get fingers in front of the lens. 2) This is my biggest complaint...If you buy the Sony cover for this model, it screws into the bottom (tri-pod screw) and keeps you from getting to the charge/transfer port without unscrewing the cover. It is a pain but not that bad...still would buy the cover again. Also...just thought of 1 more minor negative...stop making custom interfaces...just use mini-usb...dang. November 29, 2011

Great little camera! I was apprehensive in ordering this camera before trying since the last Sony camera I had was not very good (bought it without investigating). I also read many reviews about it and had mixed thoughts about getting it. In the end I am glad I did. It is one of the best Sony camera that I have ever owned. The low light shots comes out very clear. The 'fake' optic zoom is amazing. I was on top of the Willis Tower recently (103 floors high) and took great shots of Chicago skylines and many architecturally interesting buildings. November 22, 2011

Great Camera! This is a great camera for casual users. It's easy to use and love the touch screen feature, only three buttons. In my opinion, it is the latest expression of advanced technology when it comes to digital cameras. Pretty light camera, fits on the palm of your hand, and it's probably thinner than the index finger. The battery life is fantastic, it gets charged quickly and it's good for taking up to 250 still images with its original battery (I recommend to buy an additional battery just in case). The only one disadvantage I see is its lid, which could get worn out easily. Love the 1080 video resolution and the 3.3" LED touch screen. November 21, 2011
