This convenient, easy-to-use recorder goes wherever you do to confidently capture and store audio with 2GB of built-in flash memory providing up to 530 hours of recording time, plus additional storage available through the microSD™/M2 memory card slot. And with Intelligent Noise Cut technology greatly reducing background sound, your recordings will be crisp and clear in quality. Other features include Voice Operated Recording technology, a built-in speaker and an easy-to-read display.

SCENE SELECT

An easy to use system that allows the user to select pre-determined recording modes. The device automatically adjusts the unit to the optimal recording settings: notes, lectures, music etc.

TRACK MARK

Finding an exact spot in your recording is now easier than ever before. Place up to 98 track marks in each recorded file which can be "jumped" to for playback.

A-B REPEAT

Mark the beginning and ending of a particular recorded passage and the recording will be played over and over again- great for language learning.

DICTATION CORRECTION

Enables the user to press the RECORD button during playback and overwrite the recording, correcting the original recording.

EASY SEARCH

Rewinds or Fast Forwards in short increments making it easier to locate a segment in a long recording for review.

MULTI LANGUAGE MENU

Enables the menu language to be displayed in English, French or Spanish.

A unique and innovative technology from Sony, Intelligent Noise Cut™ mode significantly reduces ambient noise from recordings so that playback can be heard more clearly.

VOR

Voice Operated Recording starts and stops the recording when sound of a sufficient level is picked up by the microphone. This feature saves valuable recording time by not recording periods when there is little or no sound.

ADD RECORDING

Enables the user to press the RECORD button during playback and automatically add additional recording at the end without affecting the original recording.

DPC

Digital Pitch Control enables the recording to be played at a faster or slower rate without changing the pitch.

HI / LO MICROPHONE SENSITIVITY

Set the recorder for dictation and notes or for conferences and lectures.

Don't need the software? Great product! The two controls I need are the 'record' button, and the 'hold' switch. The 'hold ' switch disables the other buttons so you don't accidentally stop or start recording. The device fits most of the way into the coin pocket on my jeans and can pick up conversations within 10 feet at normal speaking levels. I used Audacity, a free third-party audio editing software, to edit my recordings. May 6, 2012

Nice hardware, unusable software A digital voice recorder is the modern replacement for a Dictaphone, -- and this one (ICD-PX312) is a nice one. Looks good, operates intuitively. However, it is virtually useless without the SoundOrganizer software (supplied on CD) which will not install, under any circumstances. Downloading the latest release from the Sony site, similarly, fails to fix: in fact, it generates a whole different suite of problems. And no, I do not have difficulty installing any other forms of software on my machine, ever. (64-bit Windows 7) Did they even test this software? Couldn't have. Sloppy execution renders a really nice hardware product virtually useless. And the support FAQ is no help at all. I'll be returning it today. March 9, 2012

Can not use. Why advertise a seemingly nice product that offers an awesome concept for a program, Dragon Naturally Speaking, that states on ad and box OS MAC compatible, when it doesn't even work with Mac. I called representative and was encouraged to buy Dragon's new Mac program, at 199.00 and I could get a Sony 10% percent discount. I now have nearly 300.00 in products I can not use for my profession. Not at all good advertising or customer service. I thought I was buying a compatible bundled product, not a dud.
