Good for the price
I purchased my new ICD-UX512 as a replacement for an older Sony digital voice recorder.
Unfortunately, the new Sound Organizer software included with the ICD-UX512 does not work with the Sony FS-85 foot pedal. And, the Digital Voice Editor software that shipped with the FS-85 does not recognize the ICD-UX512 recorder. So, I cannot use the FS-85 foot pedal to transcribe recordings made on the ICD-UX512.
Other than this problem, the ICD-UX512 works very well and is easier to use than my old Sony recorder.

Sony doesn't seem to have a clue as to how big this recorder is! The Sony web site says it is 4.2 x 1.5 x 0.6 inches, weighing only 2 /18 oz. "Great" I said, exactly what I was looking for - a pocket-sized digital voice recorder. Comes in silver , red & black (I wanted red). But I had seen it on Amazon in red with the dimensions 6.7 x 5.8 x 1.8 and weighing 4 times as much: definitely won't fit in a pocket! Then I found it in black with yet another set of dimensions, even larger and heavier! So I don't know whether it will fit in a pocket or will I need a wagon? Next I called Sony Sales help who insisted that the large size is correct and I will need the wagon. What happened to the pocket sized version? It and all the others had exactly the same model number. I'd have to conclude that the lights are on but there is nobody home at Sony.
