On the right track I have owned many Vaio laptops and this is one of the slickest designs that I have seen yet. The materials are fantastic, though the minimal processor and video memory have trouble playing even fully buffered videos. I really can't wait to see this slim of a package with a real machine inside. Don't get me wrong, I would buy it in an instant for about half the price as it is too slow in the performance category to warrant the $1000+. March 16, 2011
Take a back seat Apple.....here comes Vaio X I've had my Vaio X for two months now and everyone that has seen it tells me that they ought to get one of these instead of the apple competitor. But aside from the envy factor, I've found this machine to be top notch in portability, functionality and control. I knew the processor would be a bit slow and I found the batteries yield about ten hours, but I can carry my Vaio around for eight hours and not get shoulder aches. It weighs less than a pair of jeans. I can flip it open on the fly to show someone a photo or look up a file. It takes 25 seconds from power on to desktop screen. It took all of one day of typing emails to get used to the keyboard. Trackpad, the same. I would recommend this to anyone that travels. If you already travel with some other laptop, you don't know what you are missing; or saving in medical costs to fix that shoulder. Last note to Sony, for this price at least throw in a nice matching laptop sleeve. January 21, 2011
Portable, Powerful and lacking The system over all is a nice very PORTABLE computer. It seems durable, battery life is amazing. Wifi Performance superb. Incredibly light and easy to carry. Technical support is excellent. The docking station ( by targus ) is problematic. Its connectioin to the Vaio is through a single USB connection. Video is choppy and when your getting/ receiving info over the network example: streaming from the internet it slows the video even more. In my opinion if you are looking for a VERY portable true notebook size laptop that should - appears as though it will last for years get this X-Series. (HOWEVER) if you require a reliable, good performing docking solution for your day-to-day in office or home work, I'd suggest a different Sony model. October 31, 2010
