amazin sound i love this reciver ..the only you need to get good sound its to know how hook it the speaker level conecnt front speaker to subwoofer ..and u will get a nice home theater.. u can find how to set up in the web August 21, 2012
No tuner knob Lack of buttons and knobs looks cool, but if you lose the remote, this thing loses a lot of functionality. I'll never get another receiver like this. October 26, 2011
Big fan of Sony products Picked up the S570 wifi blu ray player. The Strdn 1010 seem like a good match for it. Paired the reciever with a set of bose 201's for the front and vcs30 bose center channel and surround package, and of course a powered subwoofer. Makes for a great 5.1 setup. Very happy with the results. The auto calibration does a great job. Yes my tv is sony too, but an older model and only has 1 hdmi input which was my excuse for having to buy a reciever. HD DVR was connected by hdmi also so i was constantly manually plugging and unplugging the blu ray player, which got old really fast. This reciever solved that problem with the single hdmi out to tv and the audio return channel. I have owned it for about 2 months now and feel great about all the purchases. Just like another review i was bummed about the remote. it has a bd button and i can't use it to control my sony blu-ray because i prefer to use the hdmi input, but it does switch sources automatically when i turn on the blu ray which is pretty cool. Overall great product! April 1, 2011
My 3rd Sony Receiver You have to really read the user guide to fully take advantage all the features this unit haves to offer. Not only read but really "play" with the settings to understand what they do. It didn't hurt that this is my 3rd AV Receiver from Sony, so I had a "hit the ground running" knowledge when it came to setting this thing up. I bought this receiver because of the 3D pass-thru and the fact I've always owed Sony AVR's and been pleased every time. As I stated in the Cons, the GUI mode on this unit is annoying. The GUI displays the menu options for the Sony Receiver on the TV, causing my TV to disrupt its normal programming to display only the Sony AVR's menu. My TV has enough switching back and forth between hdmi ports that I don't want any unnecessary stress on the TV. Now, there is an option to see the AVR?s menu on the Receiver screen itself, but until today, the only way to achieve this was to press the GUI mode button twice, quickly turning it from on to off, causing my TV screen to flicker (violently) as if the menu was about to display on the TV; only then could I hit the menu button on the controller giving me the ability to see the menu on the Sony Receiver. Today, I finally figured out how to bypass hitting the GUI Mode button altogether. To display the receiver's menu only on the receiver itself, first press the AMP button (just below the POWER button on the remote) and then hit the MENU button. This now displays all the options you can use to control the settings on the AV Receiver. Some may like seeing the Menu Settings on the TV, but the truth is, in doing that...it doesn't display all the setting options for the Receiver. Go Figure! Other than that, I?m completely please and impressed with the quality of this unit. It?s a keeper and built to last as all my other Sony AVR's have been! February 9, 2011
