My wife and I are very pleased.
We have SONY HD-TVs, Blu-ray/DVD players and an under cabinet kitchen AM/FM//CD player, count on SONY to provide a quality product and have not been disappointed. We have CDs and quite a few tapes and no longer had a way to play the tapes. The sound is good, mega boost is a plus and ollar for dollar this unit cannot be matched!

Plays Cassettes
For those who still have cassette tapes this is a must purchase. Portability, AC/DC with built in transformer. I especially like the metal speaker grille, a nice touch.

Great Purchase
I reviewed many other brands of portable radios before purchasing this one and was not disappointed. The other brands at the price of the Sony do not have many of the features this has. I wanted specifically a FM radio, cassette player and cd player, the CFD-SO5 had everything and more. The sound quality is very good for a small compact portable radio. The reviewers who labeled the sound quality as a "Con" should remember what you paid for, if you want concert sound quality you have to pay for it, for what this radio was designed for the sound quality is excellent. Sony AM/FM, cassette-Corder, CD player for under $50 is a great buy.

Slightly disappointed
I purchased this item last week with very high hopes of getting a good sound quality for not alot of $$. I have to say that I do love the way this was designed, a real space saver and am happy that those of us who still listen to cassettes haven't been forgotten. It's a very simple, basic cd player. I am happy with the product, but by reading the reviews, I thought maybe the sound quality may be a bit better than it is. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't sound bad, I just expected more from what i read. If you are really into your music, you should think twice before purchasing this item. However, if you want to just have something to play your music on that sounds okay, then you should purchase. Good for back ground music for office or store, keeping in mind the lower the volume the better it sounds. Too soon to tell how well it will hold up, I've only had it for a week. Altho I am happy with it, even tho I expected better sound, and I would reccomend this to a friend, but for me, I think I would probably send it back if shipping charges weren't so high and purchase the other one that is similiar for the few extra bucks.
