Looks like Sony has fixed the problems
I ordered my system through a rewards website associated with my job (I am in sales). Ordered it on February 1st, and didnt' receive it until May 24th. The reason being is that there was apparently a recall on this particular system, and judging by the reviews on this site, there was more than enough reason to recall them. I can tell you personally that I did not experience ANY of the problems that some of the other folks were complaining about, which would lead me to believe that Sony has resolved any issues that they were receiving complaints about. My system has had no problems streaming Pandora radio, YouTube, Netflix or anything else. I was just listening to Pandora last night on my system as a matter of fact. I performed the update without any issues. The package provided plenty of speaker wire for me to be able to place the speakers exactly where I wanted to place them.
I can certainly understand some of the frustration about this system, I would've been mad too had I experienced some of those same problems. But there was a recall apparently, and like I said, I have not had one issue with my system to this point, it has performed beautifully.

Better than expecting
I just purchased this player/system for my wife for mothers day in order to de-clutter the living room and so far it has performed that function with surprising bonuses. In addition to having Pandora (yes, you have to have internet perform your first upgrade) the system will also have Slacker for a more varied radio listening, concerts that change, and a slew of other items on there. It took 3 days before my wife finally got around to putting in a Bluray disc because she was enjoy exploring the items available on the bluray player.
As far as complaints, the only one is due to the Regza link with the Toshiba TV. The player and Toshiba TV were compatible with one another making for a great combination, however when the television gets turned off, due to that link the bluray player goes into standby which is annoying if you are listening to music in another room. I have managed to turn if once and keep the player running without it turning off, so I am sure it is just learning the trick, but it would be easier if it didn't happen at all.
In spite of the one minor thing, this system is wonderful, with great sound and wonderful design. It is not a computer but does allow access to a variety video and music sites although you will need to set up access on a computer prior to being able to use all of them on this system. But, if you can figure out how to read through the step by step set up guide, this system will be great as your entertainment center.

Sure looks pretty, sounds good too.
First, a confession. We bought this BD player and have not yet upgraded a to a HD TV. Yeah, the stone-age, but we're not in any rush. So I couldn't tell you a thing about DVD upscaling, BD quality, HDMI connectivity etc. Haven't tried the GraceNote or Netflix or the online stuff yet. Which might be a good thing as the other reviewers are having issues.
We're just using it to play regular DVDs and listen to music. It does that very well. The highlight of my afternoon was when I stuck my 8mb USB keychain drive into the front USB port, and got to listen to my favorite MP3s. Yeah baby, yeah. Nice full sound. Who needs an I-pod (which this supposedly runs, to the point that the remote controls the I-pod too). Too rich for my blood. I also connected my Sansa Sandisk e250 2MB in MSC mode and listen to music, too. You do have to have the TV on in order to work through the menus to find the USB music connection, can't do with just the BD player alone. And I haven't found a way to shuffle or use playlists.
Music CD's sound pretty sweet, depending on the quality of the recording. Listened to Fleetwood Mac's The Dance (Live) and rocked the house.
Length of the provided speaker cords is ok, not extravagently long. We have a 15x15 room and the cords were long enough. And the end that sticks into the speaker is just regular speaker wire, so you can wire nut an extension on that pretty easy if needed. I loved my old Sony DAV-X1, but the proprietary speaker plugs drove me nuts.

HATE THIS SYSTEM
I cant watch most of my DVD's and blu ray disc because when I try to play them, I can barely make out what people are saying!! All of the music and back ground noises play loud and clear, but the voices come out muffled.
On top of that, netflix works sometimes and sometimes it doesnt. Sony DOES NOT back up their product. After paying $400 for the ststem they refuse to refund me, nor will they properly fix the system. I feel like just throwing it in the trash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
