Pre-use Review I would just like to say that I have had a Sony Vaio Laptop since 2007, an upgrade from a Compaq desktop computer in 2005. I have loved the portability of my laptop and would not trade it for the world. Technology is ever changing to where new computers are being put out each year and this model although put out in November 2009 seems to be the one that I will have the most use out of especially based on what all it can do. Like other reviews stated here, it is a mini theatre and will be the basis on what I will be doing college work, watching a movie from time to time, uploading pictures, and video conferencing with my family from time to time that lives just across town (talk about lazy LOL). I took careful planning and insight on buying this computer and made my decision based on I loved the idea that Apple Ipad has the portability as does a laptop and after all the added accessories comes to just about the base price of this computer give or take, but it has no operating system as this computer does. In addition, I did not like the idea that the Ipad does not have any office apps so that I can type my papers up for school and submit them over the internet. I would have had to send them to my own e-mail address through my laptop, bring them up through Word and then submit them through my online schooling. Talk about a pain in the neck everytime you want to send a document. All in all I believe from what I have read and that I have always had faith in Sony products, that I would definitely recommend this computer to other buyers and when I get mine in a couple days, I will be back on here writing a post-use review. Nice piece of engineering This piece of HW is a beauty. I was able to connect an HDTV antenna and get over 40 Channels. Blue-Ray Disks look great, burning is fast, the screen works great (Touch Screen). It is also very fast. I could not be happier except if this had HDMI input/output (which the newer models do). But other than that, cant complain. Had it for a few days only. August 30, 2010
She's a Really "Big Star" This is a really cool computer...the screen resolution is good and less wires works for me...Google/Chrome doesn't use Media Player so that had to be addressed...processor is really as fast as I can go...have a set of BOSE computer speakers for audio monitors (expensive set) and this is a desktop home entertainment system August 7, 2010
Best Vaio yet First let me say, if you don't have an HD TV don't buy this computer. Once you see the quality of the picture you will find yourself shopping for a HD TV ( Sony of course) like I did. The speed & features are far beyond other brands. The touch screen is way cool & lots of fun. Media center makes it so easy to view internet tv, pictures, videos, etc. This is my 4th Sony Vaio & it just get better with each one. My last one was 7 years old before I upgraded to this new one. I would give my thumbs up to anyone thinking about this computer. June 24, 2010
