as described the product was beyond expectations November 28, 2010
Something wonderful I just bought this radio after reading and researching it and all the hype and buzz about it was right on. I went from a touch srceen fold out with very little power and lots of problems to this Sony. Instantly I had sound that I was wanting and practicallity as well. I definatly recommend this radio to everyone to purchase and experience for them selves. Job well done on this one. P.S. The price was perfect, I feel like I cheated Sony! May 31, 2010
Skeptical? Don?t be Well, I was skeptical at first when I started doing my research to buy a radio that would allow me to play my music off my 60gb Ipod. I have to say that I didn?t want to spend hundreds of dollars for the radio since it was going into my bmw z3 M that I only drive 4 months out of the year in Montreal. I also didn?t want to have to lose any of the detail and quality in Sound I was getting from my Alpine OEM cassette deck with CD Changer in the trunk (which was another factor for me to replace the radio) I hated being in the highway and getting a ?CD ERROR? message on my display and I couldn?t do anything about it except stop the car, pull over on the highway, open the trunk, unload the cartridge and fiddle with the cd?s for it to work again. The fact that the Alpine cd Changer is one of the first generation cd players also didn?t help, every bump on the road would skip the cd that was playing, very frustrating. I listen, read and played with a few of them. At first I wanted to get the cd/radio/am/fm/Aux input/USB radio, but I wondered, would I really use all of that? no, I wouldn?t use the USB connection so that saved me right away 50$, and as Mentioned, it?s all about price point. That being said, I focused on radios that had either a front or rear AUX IN, with a face plate removal capability and a SUB out (I have a 10 inch Alpine sub in my little trunk with its own Alpine amp) So I went to the local best buy and listened to several models that meet my prerequisites, Sony CDX-GT240 won hands down, at under 120$ plus installation and the BMW kit for the connections, I had found the ideal ready. No, it didn?t have the remote, although I could buy it, but I don?t particularly see myself using it that much. I am happy that I already had a sub, since the output for low frequencies seemed to lag a bit, especially when I have the top down and im going 100klm on the highway. The other bad thing, is the fact that there isn?t a box for the faceplate, but, you can always use that spare sunglass case you have sitting in the back of your car. All in all, a great purchase for me, very happy with it. Thanks Sony April 5, 2010
Best Radio I've Ever Had I just got done installing my Sony radio. I believe its the best radio you could buy for 80 bucks. My dad was suprised when he heard the clean tone coming out of my stock 1992 firebird speakers. And its not just my system. A friend of mine installed this exact system in his 1999 mustang and his system sounds the same as mine. January 16, 2010
