no remote code?? in this day and age i truly cannot believe there is no remote code so i can control this device with my universal remote. will be returning it for another receiver. January 12, 2010
Nice budget receiver. Sounds decent for the money. If you have equipment with hdmi ports, you'll need to spring for the expense of having a fibre optic or copper cable for your digital audio signal. Also, if you plan on running analog video sources (VCR, DVD), through this receiver, you'll need to have the appropriate analog connections made between this receiver and your TV, as it doesn't do HDMI upconversion. This is a pretty decent receiver for the dollar; those who may need administrative approval (from the spouse) for such a purchase should be have no problems getting approval. January 2, 2010
Best Sony Equipment This piece of equipment is just awesome. I have had it three days now, Christmas of '09, and have used it every day. It provides more then enough power- using 110 watt Sansui and Pioneer top of the line speakers and a Sony SW2500 subwoofer. I love it enough that has a carpenter built a nice oriental cabinet to hold it and the front speakers with my computer monitor for my dorm room. Definantly worth the money!!! December 27, 2009
Almost Perfect Its a great system and fairly easy to install whether you have a modicum of experience at home AV or not. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. Sound is beautiful, and, for the most part, connecting all of your various input devices is a breeze. Unfortunately I have had problems with connecting the Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300 HDC cable box via the HDMI input...for some reason an error message is displayed that the TV can't suipport HDMI connectivity from the cable box, yet it works fine when plugged directly into a Vizio VX42l-HDTV10A unit. Also, the Roku HD-N1000 (or 1100...I forget) only shows a green screen when connected through the reciever, but works fine when connected directly to the TV. There are various cheats to get around this, but I'm hoping Sony support will have an answer. All that aside, its a solid system. December 23, 2009
