Does what it was designed to do
I hooked this up to my Sony STR-DA5300ES reciever. I was nervous about purchasing it from some of the reviews I read about on Amazon.com about compatibility issues with certain models. After hooking it up I was Pleased with the Sound quality from the device using my Iphone 3g but no remote control. I then tried my 4th Gen Ipod touch, fully compatible... love it!! Couldnt be more pleased. I wish there was a way to do a firmware update.

TDM-IP50 iPOD dock
I purchased a reconditioned TDM-IP50 from Sony because they have discontinued this model, without offering an updated product. I wasn't sure if it would work with my iPOD devices after reading the other reviews. I was very happy to find that it works well with both the iPOD Touch 4th generation and iPOD Nano 5th generation. Neither device could be used with the numerous adapters that came with the dock, but if inserted and removed carefully this has not been a problem. I am using the TDM-IP50 dock with my Sony AV Receiver STR-KS370 and a 60" Sony Bravia LED TV. The DM port and video cord work well but the graphics are just as primitive as the previous reviews have described. But I find that for just listening to my music I don't need the graphics all that much. I usually just make adjustments on my iPOD devices and leave the TV off. Maybe if the device featured updated album art graphics, I would be more inclined to use the video menu. The market seems to be there for this type of product, it's surprising that there are not updated models available from other manufacturers. The iPODs can also be controlled with my Sony and Harmony remotes through the device; and they also charge on the dock any time the AV receiver is on. Over all I am very satisfied with the TDM-IP50. I will say that the original price was much too high, but because this one was reconditioned, I only paid half the price.

My 4th Gen iTouch works just fine!
I was skeptical to say the least, but pleasantly surprised ! The performance of the dock was far better than that of the apple it replaced. I can control it with the remote for my AV system and video is carried through my DM port flawlessly. I wish Sony would up date their media interface screen (make it more modern) it would really make a complete package. Please Sony take a look at updating!

Not as advertised
First I should say I only buy SONY (that may change). I just bought an STR DN 1000 A/V receiver and this dock. Hooked everything up to my Bravia TV. No iPod menu (I have a Touch). Remote works with iPod to play music. Finally got through to an online "Chat rep" who advised that maybe my Bravia was to old to accept the digital media signal, and advised I use the provided jack to hook up to a standard video input on my TV. Still does'nt work.
