Perfect for any entertainment enthusiast, you can use One-Touch Dubbing through the USB or i.LINK® interface to burn your photos and home videos directly to DVD from your compatible camcorder. Breathe new life into your existing DVD collection and watch them in near-HD quality with HDMI™ upscaling. You can even listen to music and view digital images from your CD and DVD media that are encoded with MP3 audio or JPEG image files.

NOTE: The RDR-GX257 is currently labeled as ENERGY STAR and was inadvertently shipped in a mode that does not meet the ENERGY STAR guidelines for energy efficiency. In order to realize the energy savings, you need to activate the "Power Save" feature. Please see below for instructions. Please note that if the "Power Save" feature is turned "Off", this product does not meet ENERGY STAR guidelines. Therefore, to reduce power consumption when the product is in "stand-by" mode, please be sure to keep the "Power Save" feature on. Alternatively, when the product is not in use, you could simply unplug the unit.

No Disk Message about every 4-6 months I have been getting an error message stating there is "no disk." I get this message if it is a blank disk or if it is one I have from my library (not burned). I can't seem to figure out what is causing it or how to correct it...but it is VERY inconvenient. September 19, 2011
Don't throw your money away In less than 1 year of ownership it stopped reading it's recorded disc. That's why one purchases a DVD RECORDER, TO RECORD! August 14, 2011
Poor Quality on RDR-GX257 I am very disappointed with SONY's GX257 product. I am seriously thinking about not purchasing SONY products anymore. June 12, 2011
Disappointing Unit records like a bat-outta-he!! but when it comes time to finalize the disc, all I got was a "disc error" message. Sometimes it would record then it would finalize then couldn't play its own Sony brand disc! VERY disappointed with Sony. Need to rethink my position on purchasing Sony products. March 29, 2011
