Awesome Product - Class Design A year ago, my future son-in-law (now married to my daughter) got me into the 21st century with the purchase of a LCD Television. So now it?s step two - Surround Sound (Blu-ray DVD player is Black Friday ? I Hope). I have been looking at different Surround Systems in a Box and landed on Sony. I have been checking and waiting until now to get a Surround System that was a true HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) System. "Well I purchased the Sony HT-SF2300 system this past Saturday (11-15-2008) from a Sony store and I have to say, I extremely pleased. The difference between using the speakers built into my LCD TV and now using the SF2300 Sony Surround Sound system is night and day. Also, connecting my Cable DVR Box up to the SF2300 and sending the signal to the TV via true HDMI has made a 150% clearer cut image emphasizing a lot more contrast. Its almost Perfect !!! Like Being There? Can't wait for Sunday football games and the Thanksgiving Day Parade. The visual look of the Sony SF2300 is so clean. The Sony packaging of the System in a Box is also so clean. When Sony does it, it?s first class. I have mounted the left and right speakers at the end of my TV stand with just the speaker post, without using the speaker base. It looks like the speakers are part of the 52 inch TV. Clean ? So Clean. The center speaker is mounted just above the LCD, the sub-woofer is on its side under a side table (Sorry about that, no room). The two (2) surround speakers are located at the back of the family room, which is 20 x 25 with a vaulted trusted ceiling. I will probably mount the surround speakers on the rear wall, but still playing / working with location along with hiding the speaker wires. Physically connecting the HDMI cables, as well as the speaker wire connectors are as simple as A, B, C. It is color coded along with being table simple and clean. Again, Sony did an awesome job on delivering simplicity. Great job Sony. As of this time, I have not balance the speakers, but will probably do it shortly. Presentlu using the system as it came out of the box. Waiting on my cables from FireFold.com so that I can hook up my present DVD player. The only thing that I can say, that is negative, is the Home Theater System Operating Instructions. It is way to complex for this Grandpa, nothing simple, but you System Engineers out there, could understand it about five minutes. But the folks at Sony Service have been great to explain the things that I don?t understand in the Operating Instructions. Would I purchase the HT-SF2300 again. Yup without any hesitation. I believe that it is an Awesome system for the price, but that is only my idea. So now, can?t wait for Black Friday to hook up my Sony BDP-S550 Blu-ray DVD player. November 19, 2008
Be patient, but you'll love it after setup is done Let me start by saying this is one of the best eletronics purchases I have ever made. I compared this unit to others, including Bose, and decided I was getting the most for my money out of this one. I had some issues during setup. It was not as simple as plug and play. There was a setting in my Sony Blu-Ray player that I had to turn off before the the unit would perform properly using an HDMI connection. It took several calls to Sony before we got it figured out. The manual said nothing about this setting needing to be turned off. Very frustrating, but in the end I am blown away by the sound the system puts out. It totally changes your movie watching experience. If you're even considering a home theater system to match your blu-ray player, and you are already a fan of Sony, buy it now! And with the 18 months no interest offer, I don't see how you could refuse. Enjoy! January 23, 2009
Need's Improvement I bought this home theater system along with a sony bluray disc player. I was disappointed, 1st with the design, it not as sophisticated, elegant, and classy as I expected it ( comparing it with my previous sony dvd home theater system ) the black post that you have to attach on each speakers, screws at the back and big round base just ruins the nice design of actual speakers ( I guess it will be nicer if you hang it on the wall ). 2nd not like other home theater system that is ready to go, the 4 standing speakers need to be assemled RIGHT with the proper wire, post, base to use for each( better read the manual first for proper pairing), the wire that goes ti it's jack can't be replaced ( just in case you need to replced it with a longer wire you need to attach to the other end and of course passed it through again on it's post). 3rd the sound quality is not as define as I expected it. Although there is a calibrator which I can say a very nice add on. December 13, 2008
This system rocks... Unbelievable sound and very easy to set up. HDMI is the way to go and this system has it all. Many options at your finger tips in a very good looking system. Not to large, very low key but very powerful. This system rocks... November 24, 2008
