Poor value, but durable
I previously owned a VAIO TZ with same style Sony leather sleeve. Comparatively, the Z model is noticeably inferior in fit, finish and construction.
The sides are nylon only and not clad in leather. The bottom piece, strap and center stitch piece are of cheap feeling vinyl. The vinyl strap and locking pin mechanism feel chintzy and the locking pin will scratch anything placed against it in a book bag.
The fit is poor on newer Z models with ext battery. There is no cutout for it in the rear. The flaps on top fold in poorly and the quality of leather is lacking.
I purchased this on impulse and compared with previous Sony leather sleeves, the fit with ext. battery poor and quality of construction lacking.
I use it everyday, and while durable, is a very poor value.

A downgraded case for an upgraded laptop
I had a TZ which had a great Sony-made case so I didn't hesitate to pay $129 for the Sony case for my new Z. I can't begin to describe how disappointed I am in this product. The best thing about the TZ's case besides it's fit and finish was the strap that kept it closed. The strap was anchored by a strong magnetic clasp. So I was shocked to find that the new case had a little stud that the strap was supposed to be attached to. Basically there is a small hole in the strap which the stud on the case pokes through. So over time, that hole is going to get bigger and soon the strap won't stay secured. The case for my old TZ was all leather and the strap had two soft, finished pieces sewn back to back together to make a very attractive, substantive strap. The old case exuded quality. The new exudes cheapness. I'm still waiting for the new Z laptop to show up but am worried that like it's case, it won't be an upgrade over my old TZ, at least in terms of fit, finish, and quality.

Don't waste your time or money on this one
This shouldn't be called a case; it should be a SLEEVE. It has no strap, handles, or additional pockets. You cannot fit your power adapter in it. Not only does this not even have a good style to it, but the quality of the leather (if it really is leather) is horrendous. Yes, you can fit a VAIO-Z with an extended battery in it, but it feels just plain awkward. You can buy a carrying sleeve for $30 which will be better than this one, and if you wanted some decent leather, you can do SO MUCH BETTER than this piece of garbage.

not worth the money
Recieved this case and was very disappointed. no magnetic clasp, looks cheap. NOT worth the money.
