Easy Dubbing Home Movies/Good Quality--VHS to DVD We have hours of VHS tapes of Home Videos--vacations, birthday parties, etc--getting older. I decided to try to do my own dubbing, rather than pay for a service. BestBuy sales associate recommended this unit for ease of use, as well as quality. I like it very much. After reading the User Manual several times, I am now successfully dubbing my old VHS tapes to DVD. Very good quality recording DVD's in HQ. Easy to title, automatically formats. This machine does lots of cool things; but I have not used the more sophisticated functions so far. January 26, 2009
DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT!!!!!! Very disappointed in Sony. We purchased the Sony RDR-VX560 VCR-DVD combo in mid Jan 2010 and recently tried to play a DVD which contained a television show recorded on our old DVD (an LG). It WOULD NOT PLAY that DVD. None of our home movies, recorded television shows or grandchildrens dance recitals will play on this unit. The unit will only play DVD's recorded on it. March 12, 2010
Good DVD/VHS Combo After I bought my DVD/VHS player in Gilroy and played it on my Insignia 20 inch television, I took it with me to Monterey and somehow, the blue screen kept showing up. I had remembered that when I press stop, it displays DVD1, DVD2, DVD3, and so on. I spoke with a representative, he said, "try moving it to DVD1." So I did just that. I used my DVD remote that came with it to reset the unit. January 23, 2010
Impulse Purchase I bought this deck without reviewing like products and am not disapointed with my purchase except for the Cons listed. I did have tracking problems with one tape so far, that may be the two head versus four head problem. After converting to regular DVD format on my PC I have no problems playing the disc on my Mac as did a previous reviewer. Overall, a great deck. January 12, 2010
