Sony's best foot forward - NOT!!! There is an old saying that seems to have gotten lost somewhere along the way these past serval years, including in the tech world. Sony has defenelty kept up with the Jones in this regard with the VGN-SZ460N laptop. Having to pay for DVD's that should come with the Laptop incase of HDD failure - obsurd at best. Profitable i'm sure - but obsurd from the customer point of view. And for the $2,800 price tag at the timeof this laptop - and it's claim to be for Business customers - those on the go... Most all the apps are Trial apps that can be downloaded from the web. None included With the laptop - none worth having. And attmpt a Full system recovery - you have to load every single one of those trials before it will end the recovery - we spent six day now without success at this attempt - still a failure. OS should be packed sepratly from Trial apps. especially for Full system recovery. Trial Apps or 3rd party apps should be secondary. For the Businessman on the go - this costs you more than it is worth. The HDD by seagate has been noted as to having a problem and failing BY SONY... so why should i the customer have to pay $40 more dollars to get the DVD's? Only 2 gigs of Ram - sucks the LOWER end of the midrange graphics processors A 5,400rpm HDD rather than a 7,200 rpm drive All Trial software - you don't get squat as far as apps are concerned and none you can't just go and download yourself. only 2 USB ports Software propiatory Comp - only Sony's version of Vista can go on it... possibly Win7 forget XP. And they fail at staying up to date with there own software versions. This needs correcting. Webcam for conferencing extremely poor quality - kinda makes you wonder about their cameras. Dou 2 Core Processors with out the memory or memory capabilty to utilize them or go 64bit. Limited to one carier - Cingular - what if i want Sprint or ATT? Too bad... For Business people on the go - a street finder or GPS would have been better - need diretions to get there maybe? Of course - it's probably just be a trial ware anyway from what i see here. No upgrade for the GPU? No Sound Card? Does it have some good points - sure Cool Finger print log on Blue Tooth iPhone - but limited to Cingular instead of all carrier capable. It's not quite as fragile as you would think. Sony - at $2,800 you couldn't even include the bottom line of Quick Books? You instead included the downloadable free version anyone can get online? This s definitly NOT a $2,800 laptop let alone an $800 laptop Great to see you put your best foot forward like everyone else. July 21, 2009
