Sony SXRD TV - Awesome, Reliable, Love it!
We purchased 3 SXRD 60 inch TVs in 2007. It was the best decision we ever made. All of the TVs have been reliable and are all working perfectly in 2013, that is close to 6 years later. The high definition quality picture is stunning with rich vibrant colors and fast moving videos such as in sports are sharp and crisp.
The lamps are long lasting. We have only had to change the lamp only once on one of the TVs, and that is the TV that is used everyday for hours. Some people have their TVs running over 15 hours a day, especially if they have children who turn on the TV all day long during their summer vacation. In such a case the lamps will burn out faster. But since the price for a new lamp is now around $99, that is not too much of an expense, especially for a TV that sold for around $3,000. Also it is recommended to connect your TV to a surge protector to protect it from lightening and excessive power surge.
The SXRD is the best TV technology of its generation and I am so glad I bought it. The blacks on this TV are true black, as if you are looking at an oil painting in real life. And the colors are awesome.

Sony Wega rear projection--Worst TV ever
I bought mine in 2006. I spent a ton of money for this 400 lb paperweight. It has had that "green screen" issue, mysterious fans issues, no sound no color issues...you name it. This TV is by far the worst electronics purchase I've ever made. POC.

Good value in 2005
I went thru a (250.00) lamp in first 6 months. then another in 2008, then in 2010. Still have 1 spare for another time. I also had my fans, video card and opitcal block all relaced at NO cost to me. All covered under warranty even thought it was over 2 yrs old. No trouble since block was replaced in 2008. I will never buy another TV with a lamp. I have spent 750.00 for 3 lamps or was it 1000.00 for 4 lamps. Could have bought extra LCD TV for the extra lamp cost.. Next Sony will be for my mother, LED or LCD. I am Sony all tyhe way.

Severely Disappointed
We have an old Sony tv that we've had since our wedding. This tv is not that tv. We wanted a big screen, so we purchased this in 06, and have had nothing but trouble from it. The fan in the back is the only thing keeping the lamp bulb cool, so when the fan fails to turn, the tv doesn't turn on to prevent overheating. We've actually had to remove the back of the tv to manually turn the fan to get an evening's television. We are looking forward to our next tv purchase, and we'll politely decline to purchase Sony product.
