Multiuse!!! I use this mic for everything. I use it on the football field for choirs, I do stereo voice overs, I use it for overhead drumsets and just everything. There was one time that the microphone was dropped while in the middle of a football game and it feel due to a little child running into me and I dropped the mic on the concrete floor. It bent up the grille badly and I just put the grille back in place and the microphone worked just as great as it ever did before. May 25, 2009
Versatile Live Music Mic I purchased this mic in 2002 with a MD recorder (bundle). I've used it to record live orchestral music in Europe on the MD recorder and, starting this year, with a PCM-D50 recorder. The D-50/957 combination work flawlessly as a battery-powered (all 'AA' size, available anywhere) on-location music recorder. I use a Sure telescoping mic stand, a mini-plug 50-foot cable from RS, and I'm obtaining high-quality recordings of our orchestra as it performs in cathedrals, outdoor venues of all types, and concert halls. The mic allows for intimate recording sessions of smaller groups, or a 70-piece orchestra with the adjustable orientation switch. Having a single mic that can do high-quality stereo is a benefit for portable use. The entire set up (save for the mic stand) can fit in a medium-sized camera bag (that also includes a Sony digital camcorder). Recordings (particularly with the D-50) mix easily to CD via Mac computer for distribution to musicians. I'd say we capture 80+% of the audio quality that we obtain with our permanent recording system in a very portable, 'AA'-powered format that goes anywhere. December 28, 2008
