shoulda learned the first time I have no subwoofer output, 7 months into ownership. I first bought a 1010, and the transformer blew on it, about the same time frame, but different whereas the 1010 was just cutting out on working entirely, this one, just no sub out. After Sony finally took it back, the 1010, I was reluctant, and for good reason to buy another Sony receiver. I did, and am awaiting to return it to get fixed. I really do not want it anymore and will be afraid to even use it when I get it back, as I am sure its days will be numbered yet again. I love Sony for their CRT TV's and their computers, but absolutely, this is the last Sony receiver I will ever buy. I hope Sony will just keep it and send me a refund, so I can buy a different name brand stereo. I am surrounded throughout my house by old stereos that work. Unfortunately, the last two new ones from Sony both broke. Dont do it, no matter how cheap they become. May 4, 2012
Nice System, but not perfect. I brought this for the networking features and was pleasantly surprised. The built-in network hub is a handy feature (1 line to my router and 3 to other devices (BD, WDTV, etc.). The DLNA Media Streaming function does not work as fast as I had hoped, but it does work (to a point). The Server/Player only goes up to 20,000 songs, which kind of stinks. You can search through your library and play your choice, unless it goes above that 20,000 limit. Then it will default to the first song in your library. Works seamlessly with WMP12 and also works with MediaMonkey v.4. iTunes isn't my flavor, so haven't tested there. If a firmware update can fix the song limit, (being a former DJ, I currently have just over 70k converted from hundreds of CDs'), and possibly the little of lag when searching, this would be great. It is still a good sounding system that replaced my old A/V unit with many more options for me to customize. I'm not ecstatic, but I am a little more than happy with it... January 5, 2012
Good A/V but problem with iphone app The sound and the performance is good. The main problem is about the iphone app and the new firmware update. Both only work in the US version of the machine. I live in Europe (as many owners of the A/V) and the iphone app is not update it since May 2010!! the the firmware is only updated first time before 1 month but also no good outside US. Can Sony deal with it, please? September 18, 2011
friends unit convinced me to buy the STR-DN2010 well...I have a friend who purchased this receiver and loves it to death. They invited me over as I am a Sony enthusiast. I have many Sony products but never considered a Sony Stereo or AMP because they just are not known for AUdio equipment period. If you bought this amp thinking it was going to compare to a 2500 Harmon Kardon or Denon or any of the Hi Fidelity systems you are just stupid ! Sony makes alot of great gadgets which I absolutely love and have over-priced TVs (sorry) but incredible design which is critical and great quality. I only owned Sony unless I could not find what I was after and had to look elsewhere. That does not happen often and I was getting ready to go buy a very expensive Amp and Pre Amp for 5000 USD when my friend had me over to see and hear this unit with some high end speakers (not SONY) everything else was Sony of course ! Playstation 3 Bluray system cameras and DVD players lots of audio/video equpiment plugged into unit and worked fine and sounded amazing. Now...the thing is this....this unit is very very sleek and highly functional so that everyone of his needs was met and like me he wanted to be able to have that one unit (this one) that every other electronic device ran through so that they were all easily connected behind the unit and thus leaving a very very clean Home Theater system uncluttered to the eye as you walk into the room. There is no mess of cables and wires running all over the place because its all connected thru HDMI cables which makes for a clean connection and he pre-wired his mini HOME Theater while he was designing his home....so although I will have to use the available streaming wireless adapter and speakers....which BTW are fraking awesome if you live in an old Victorian House or Condo in San Francisco that you can't knock out the walls to install your surround sound speakers !!! I was convinced that spending 2000 USD less than I had been planning on spending and buying this AMP instead will now allow me to buy another SONY toy to use with it instead of buying a ridiculously priced AMP which I really dont need atfer all. THANK YOU SONY for 15 years of happiness and delight !. David Bain ARTFUNATIC President and Founder April 4, 2011
