First OWNED Theatre System Like the title states, this is my first home theater system that I have purchased. I have listened to several others, including a few Bose, other Sony and LG. I've done plenty of research and I know this system has had below average reviews, but I had a feeling 3 bad experiences doesn't make or brake a system. I am an avid movie watcher, gamer, and music enthusiast and so far I am blown away with the quality through Pandora, Netflix, and the Blu-Ray movies that this system produces. I have an Element Tv(Second Rate) and this Sony system looks and sounds perfect on this even. I'm not sure why everyone is having problems with this update, I updated it out of the box and no problems. The only thing that was a little annoying was the auto calibration system where the speakers yell at you lol but not a big deal. So this is definitely a great buy for the money. November 25, 2011

Sound drops out on cable Wish I had the opportunity to read some of these reviews prior to buying last year. I have had no problems with the network update, the Blu-Ray player, or the online content, and the sound is actually pretty good when it works...BUT it frequently drops out when switching between DVR functionality and normal cable viewing. Some times it even drops out when simply changing channels. The only way to get the sound back is to power off the unit and turn it back on. Wired per drawing in instructions:cable box HDMI to BDV-E580 in, BDV HDMI out to TV HDMI in. ARC turned off in BDV. Two different cable boxes, but no change in performance. Just an extremely frustrating experience and there is no consistency with when it will happen. Problem is worse if power saver feature is turned off for quicker boot up. September 19, 2012

Just not good I bought this after much research. It had all of the features I wanted, but doesn't deliver.. Been a lifelong Sony fan but will never buy another product from Sony after this. Buttons, DVD, inputs - nothing works after only two months. Best Buy where it was bought doesn't help and now I have to pack up and return for service. Terrible product. Do not buy. July 3, 2012

It's O.K I bought a KDL55NX720 during the Black Friday sale and got this Blu-ray system for free. Now that I have used it for a few months I have come to realize why it was free! I have both of them hooked up and working great , but for some stupid reason while I am watching TV the surround sound will CUT out and I'll have to reboot EVERYTHING! My DirecTV, Blu-ray, and TV have NO sound! It is the MOST annoying thing! Other than that I have had no issues and the 3D looks pretty good, the iPhone/iPod dock works well, and the internet content works well over my network. All-in-All I give it 3 out of 5 but I do NOT recommend it for anyone! June 17, 2012
